The visual of a man smiling at you endlessly is creepy enough on its own, and Paramount marketed it heavily, so it made a lot of money. If director and screenwriter Parker Finn has his way, we’ll be seeing a lot more of this weird smile for quite some time.
Finn discussed his approach in an interview with SFX Magazine smile 2, October is falling. Apparently, the sequel will “show us new things,” but he also explained that some of the ideas were carried over from its predecessor. He didn’t reveal the game, but it sounds like there’s still a lot to know about the Smiling Demon and its whole deal. If you thought the first movie “resolved the mystery,” Finn said, what the first movie revealed was more like “a glass of water from the ocean.”

It brought a major twist and expanded the scope with celebrities as protagonists. Finn has never been shy about expressing his hopes for this to become a franchise, and he reiterated that his potential follow-up would be just as versatile as this one. “You find yourself in different stories, different characters, different worlds,” he points out. “It’s really fun to imagine a lineage Smile Each movie goes further off the rails than the previous one.
