This is the episode we’ve been waiting for.
Stana Katic guest-starred in the third episode of Season 1 of Small Town as femme fatale Zoe Strachan.
From what we have seen, Kartik will impress the audience with her multi-layered performance. Within minutes, she went from fearing for her life to being the prime suspect.
Small Town Murders has a different case every week, starring a different guest star, but this is one of the most advertised cases, starring Stana Katic, who has been in several promotional films.
Most of the new photos and promos feature Zoe (Stana Katic), so most spoilers and speculation will be centered around the case, although I have a few theories about Carl and Cassandra as well.
Different families mean more family drama and secrets
Small Town Murders specializes in family dramas, and episode three is no exception.
Benjamin Strachan (Ben Cotton) visits his sister Zoe when she’s in financial trouble, and promos and spoiler photos show she seems reluctant to meet him.
It’s almost like a rehash of Small Town Season 1, Episode 2, when Sam Sabiston, desperate for money, killed his cocaine buddy Bobby.
This time, Benjamin needs money and thinks people are going to hurt him or his family. Judging by the spoiler photos, it looks like the siblings have a lot of history and dirt on each other.
I suspect this isn’t a normal type of sibling rivalry either. These two may have some real secrets they can use to blackmail each other.
It looks like Zoe fears for her life, which makes us wonder if both the Strachan siblings have behavioral issues, or are they triggering each other?
This becomes even more apparent when Carl discovers a body on the shoreline. While Zoe can act like the grieving sister, is that just an act?
How many people want Benjamin dead? The promo flashes back to the murder scene, which is brutal. Someone wanted to make sure he didn’t die.
The suspects begin to grow, but the evidence still points to a fiery redhead determined to stop the agents. Albergh as long as possible.
Are there any mental patients or arsonists in the house?
Spoiler photos and promos tease that Zoe Strachan is someone who knows how to stay in control. She will most likely use her feminine charms for Carl to distract him from the case and her connection to her brother’s death.
If Carl wants to learn who killed Benjamin and all the secrets of the Strachan family, he’ll need to use his entire team to uncover Zoe’s secrets and understand her killer tendencies.
The stakes get even higher when the team discovers that Benjamin has a young son and is afraid of Zoe getting close to him.
Zoe does sound like a sly psychopath who knows how to play with angles and be sweet one minute and threatening the next. From the weekly promotional videos, I can tell Karthik will keep the audience on the edge of their seats.
Carl and Sid both have children, and this case is likely to have a big impact on them after their children go missing.
The promo shows Zoe finding a young boy and starting a fire. Was she a serial arsonist who murdered her brother?
In this one, the action and stakes increase as we see Carl don his superhero cape and save some people.
Many big-name guest stars appeared
It’s a big case-centric series with a lot of guest stars.
While Stana Katic is the most exciting, there are many other stars joining her on Tuesday’s episode.
Ben Cotton (The Night Guy) stars as Zoe’s (Stana Katic) estranged brother Benjamin. The bromance is great when they bicker with each other.
Jill Morrison (“Package Deal”) plays Elsie Sokolowski, Sid’s wife. It would be refreshing to learn more about Sergeant Sid and his family.
Lucas Bryant (“The Night Guy”) plays Roger Galbraith, who was mentioned in a previous episode as Cassandra’s prom partner.
Does Carl have competition for Cassandra?
There aren’t any specific spoilers for Carl and Cassandra in this episode, but the cast list names Lucas Bryant as Roger Galbraith, Cassandra’s old friend and high school prom partner.
This suggests that either there is a love triangle or Roger is causing problems for the couple. Cassandra stated that Roger was an actor, so he was probably confident and would have no problem going head-to-head with Carl.
Hopefully the series doesn’t jump into a love triangle so soon and Roger is just a throwaway interloper.
Small town gossip can often throw things out of proportion, so hopefully Carl just assumes Roger and Cassandra are dating and we don’t have to endure a full-blown love triangle.
I’d rather see Carl and Cassandra explore their issues and learn more about their family.
What are you looking forward to seeing from these spoilers, TV Fanatic?
