This year’s Hot Wheels Legends Tour is getting closer to the finish line, and the winner of the Chicago stop has been officially announced.

The seventh annual Hot Wheels Legends Tour, presented by Mobil 1 and designed to pay tribute to the iconic Mattel brand, kicked off on May 11 this year to find the best and brightest automakers. Games have been played in Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, Pennsylvania and Michigan. Now, Mark Cryer joins the ranks of winners with his customized 2009 Smart ForTwo.

The Hot Wheels Legends Tour event was held on July 27 at Walmart in Morris, Illinois, with more than 5,000 fans in attendance and over 118 vehicles participating. The 2009 award-winning Smart ForTwo began when Cryer purchased a wrecked Smart car. It took him six months to do it with the help of family and friends.

The finished car was inspired by the “No Big Thing” drag racing at the US 30 Drag Strip, a drag race in the northwest Indiana and Chicago areas that closed in 1984. Home-made front axle, roll cage and tubular chassis.

The seventh annual Hot Wheels Legends Tour will culminate in the virtual World Finals in November. The next stop on the tour will be in Indianapolis, Indiana on August 10th.
