Whatever happened in France, the havoc wreaked on Slow Horse Season 4 Episode 3 must have been severe.
With a French killer shooting bad Sam Chapman, Bertrand’s ghost in Lavande, and Frank Harkness pulling the strings, Slough Manor and Park are in big trouble.
There’s a lot to dissect here with David’s worsening dementia, River’s constant mistakes, and Whelan’s unexpected rise to match wits with Tavenner.
But before we get into all the fun intrigue of Penny for Your Thoughts, let’s talk about the arrival of Emily Flatt.
While I’m not her biggest fan as she relentlessly makes Lamb’s life a living nightmare (after only two episodes!), I have to admit that she matches him perfectly in terms of sarcasm.
Their smart and poignant exchange suggests Lamb may have finally met his match, and I’m here for a war of words!
River still doesn’t get it right.
I don’t want to sound like I’m picking on River, but seriously, what is Wrong With him? His “oh shit” moment sums it up perfectly – no matter what he does, this guy keeps stepping in.
The sight of him clumsily trying to escape on his moped, only to be chased by a large dog, is something I will never forget. It’s like watching a secret agent who missed every day of spy school.
it’s almost comical unsuitable Rivers are made for this world. Slough House exists for rejects like him, but the confusing thing is that this guy has agent blood running through his veins. Where were his spy genes?
Lamb, on the other hand, is able to use his brain (and car) at will to defuse deadly situations, while Rivers manages to fall off a roof while fleeing from thugs. Classic.
You can’t hit him too hard, though. Everything he does comes from his heart, even when his thoughts are not in his right mind.
But when he told Natasha that Bertrand was dead, he quickly corrected a potentially costly mistake. So, I’ll give that to him. He had no idea she was Bertrand’s mother and avoided any questions by blaming it on his grandfather.
It’s a small victory, but a victory nonetheless.
Regardless, the whole situation is strange – Bertrand seems to have enemies everywhere, as well as Harkness, who is clearly a twisted person, and his little “harem.”
But honestly, River was beyond his reach. He dived headlong into something he didn’t understand at all.
It almost feels like he should have stayed with David, even though he wouldn’t have been as astute as Katherine to protect him from Flett.
As “just a secretary,” she’s a smart one.
And poor David. His guilt about West Acres is eating him away, though we don’t yet know why.
But his dementia only made things worse. It was heartbreaking to watch him break down.
Jonathan Pryce does an excellent job portraying the confusion and anger associated with people suffering from this disease. It’s hard not to feel the weight of what’s happening.
french assassin
If that wasn’t enough, now we have this French assassin who is basically the Terminator. Seriously, this guy isn’t going down, no matter who or what attacks him.
He takes on Marcus, Shirley, and Bad Sam Chapman like it’s nothing. And then after getting hit by a car, he walked away as if it was nothing?
Lamb’s face said it all when he checked on the roadkill, only to find that the man had disappeared. Clearly, these people are no amateurs.
We know the French assassin works for Harkness, which is bad news for River since he’s trapped in France with Harkness.
If this man is just one of Harkness’ crew, there could be more like him lurking around. Let’s face it: What are River’s chances of escaping this danger? So skinny.
The river was above his head. Victor’s defeat of Harkness in Slow Horse Season 4 Episode 2 was a pure fluke. These guys are as smart as they are deadly.
But seriously, how do you avoid getting hit by a car? It’s not like Lamb was driving on Sunday – you saw the windshield – and he hit the gas!
We have a bad situation here.
turn the situation around
It’s getting worse because Whelan isn’t as incompetent as I first thought.
Of course, Taverner manipulated him, but something seemed to have happened. Now he wants to play chess with her as she plays chess with him.
I have to admit, going to Giti was a smart move for him. I don’t think he’s cunning enough to do something like this – even think its.
Although Diana destroyed all evidence of Robert Winters, who knows what Kitty will find in the files?
Kitty is not only tenacious—she love All the attention from park brass, so you know she’s going to dig deep to impress, especially the first desk person.
No doubt she’ll discover something that Tavenner has forgotten, and when she does, everything will fall into disarray.
Whatever happened to David and Chapman in France was bad news, and it would be even worse if Whelan found out.
I don’t think his views on transparency have changed that much, so if these secrets come to light it could spell disaster for Taverner, Lamb, David and anyone else involved!
