She’s been making gameplay videos for almost a decade, but Skyrim grandma Shirley Curry has announced that she’s going into semi-retirement.
You know her, you love her, she’s the people’s game grandma, this is Shirley! If you don’t know her, Skyrim Grandma is an 88-year-old YouTuber who plays games like (you guessed it) Skyrim. She’s been making YouTube videos for nine years, but yesterday she posted a video called “No More Game Videos,” which provides some updates on her life and announced that she no longer plans to make Let’s Plays. “I will never tape another game,” Curry said in the video.

“It seems like I sit in front of this computer most of the time. Lately, I’ve walked in here and looked at my computer and thought ‘I have to make a video today,’ and then I just shake my head to myself and say ‘I don’t want to “. I was just doing it for fun, but I’m tired of it, I’m tired of it, so I’ve completely decided now that I’m not going to go.”

This isn’t a complete retirement from YouTube, as she still makes vlogs when she gets a gift or “buys something I think is really cute,” as she puts it. Thankfully, the comments are about as good as you could hope for an 88-year-old, especially considering she explains in the film that she’ll be having eye surgery soon.
Back in 2019, Corey said she would be playing an NPC in The Elder Scrolls 6, noting that when the game launches “I’ll be 88!! So I probably won’t be playing it.” Well, she’s not Wrong, because she’s 88 and hasn’t played the game yet, and considering Bethesda only started making the game last August, we’re still several years away from release.
