Star WarsA franchise that was once unrivaled in the Disney era has seen its support slump in recent years as streaming has dominated our entertainment. People and fans hate the sequel trilogy more than anything I’ve seen from the prequels before, and there’s a destructive wave of bad actors online harassing anyone who wants to Star Wars It’s not just Luke, Han and Leia. Now is not really the best time to be an active and public fan of it.
acolyte The show launched earlier this year and initially saw impressive ratings, but was eclipsed by viewers in its final episodes. What I think is a great show isn’t for a lot of people. Star Wars has now become a television franchise rather than the massive blockbuster movie it was originally. So far, Star Wars It works best for people when they are nostalgic for past events, feelings, and hateful terms—the legends of past entries. This new drama, Star Wars: Skeleton Crewexpressing nostalgia in a very different way than something like Andor or The Mandalorian.
Star Wars: Skeleton Crew Impacted how many people felt when they were introduced to them as adults Star Warsboth in the original movie and the prequels. This show is about living in the suburbs, hanging out with your friends, and imagining adventures in that world. So take those memories of playing with imaginary lightsabers and speedsters, and then add that 80s kid’s movie aesthetic from a Chris Columbus movie or the feel of a Spielberg movie. You know what this show is doing, like how stranger things Let people feel just the right amount of familiarity while still feeling fresh using some of the same ingredients.
The creator of this series is Jon Watts and Christopher Fordwho worked with Spider-Man: Homecomingbringing some wonder and optimistic hope into the beginning of the series. Before I go any further, Disney only sent three episodes of the series for review, so all of my thoughts are focused solely on the early parts of the series.
Ravi Cabot-Conyers Play as Wim, our entry point character, a young boy who is distracted from his schoolwork as his imagination takes over as he dreams of doing more than just Do boring things in class. His best friend is Neil, an alien kid who looks like an elephant. Robert Timothy Smith Playing him, the two together act like a perfect vision of two young best friends spending their evenings on little adventures between school and home. Wim is a dreamer who often gets into trouble, while Neil makes sure he doesn’t go too far into something he knows is unwise. The two characters are balanced by two best girl friends, Fern and KB. Played by Fern Ryan Kira Armstrongis a risk-taking leader who is a little more mature than her peers, but still very childish. Sometimes she is Wim’s foil as he jumps around without a plan and she is naturally good at doing things so she always has some type of plan in her head. KB, actor Kiriana Krattis the science wizard of the group; when you meet KB, she looks great in the goggles she’s wearing, which help her see clearly. KB and Fern did experience the adventures that Wim and Neel wished they could.
The series pilot is nearly 45 minutes long and does a good job of setting up the scene for these kids in suburban space. Their lives are turned upside down when they discover something in the woods and end up in space, light years away from home. This is the most emotional moment in this show The Goonies– Just as the kids come together, they end up dealing with some danger and embarking on a great journey. they finally meet Jude LawJoad, eventually becomes the adult who helps them. The show adds an almost C-plot mystery that will eventually be integrated into the main story by the end. This show feels like it’s perfect for the whole family to watch together. I enjoyed every episode and none was too long. While I worry that “fans” will eventually attack the show as well, I hope this doesn’t stop people from giving the show a chance.
