Silver Sprocket is both one of the most exciting independent comics publishers and one of the coolest bookstores in San Francisco. Unfortunately, being exciting and cool doesn’t always pay off, and after 15 years of publishing the award-winning comic, they’ve launched a fundraising campaign on their website. Rewards include monthly and annual subscriptions plus a bunch of exclusive posters, as well as signed books and more.
As for why we need to raise money? Well, as the announcement says:
As Silver Sprocket celebrates 15 years of publishing artists’ edgy, socially conscious comics culminating in an Eisner Award, multiple Ignatz Awards, and many other incredible achievements, we’ve realized we need some from the community Extra help, so we need help from the community.
Like many other independent publishers, we are raising funds to help maintain Silver Sprocket headquarters and retail stores. This fundraiser aims to mobilize our community to support a sustainable Silver Sprocket for everyone we work with, allowing local cartoonists to use our equipment and resources to create their own comics, year-round community events, and Pride In Panels Initiatives such as: Queer Comics Festival and supporting everyone who works at Silver Sprocket (15+ employees) to make it sustainable. These efforts are not profit-driven, nor do we want them to be—everything we do is at the core of our mission to support independent comics and community above all else.
Silver Sprocket is a grassroots organization, so mobilizing grassroots funds to raise funds seems perfectly in line with its characteristics.
Artists who contributed to printmaking include Lemony Snicki/Michael DeForge/Julia Watts/Katie Skelly/Caroline Cash/Jen Woodall/Ashley Robin Franklin/Alex Krokus/Eddie Atoms There is more. There may be more stretch goals as the campaign unfolds.

Silver Sprocket is an important part of the local and global community. I hope this campaign is a huge success – it’s not just for one store or one publisher. This is to maintain the overall ethos of comics as an important punk art form.
