Earlier today, Sega hosted a Sonic-centric livestream called “Sonic Central” to announce new content coming from the Blue Blur. One of the surprising additions is that Sonic and DC Comics are collaborating on a Justice League comic book that will be released in March 2025.
In a 30-minute reveal, Sega re-shared the awesome animation of Batman from Shadow of the Hedgehog , which was suddenly released by the official Sonic X/Twitter account on Batman Day. At the time, the animation left many Sonic fans scratching their heads as to why the Sonic account would go to such great lengths to create such a smooth Shadows video, as it seemed out of the blue for the Caped Crusader. Now we know it’s a promotional video for DC and Sonic’s upcoming comic book crossover.
Ivo Gerscovich, Sonic’s chief brand and commercial officer, said that Sonic’s partnership with DC will “begin” with five monthly comic books written by writer Ian Flynn. While the livestream deliberately omitted behind-the-scenes artists, it wasn’t shy about showcasing DC Heroes-style Sonic character designs. In this untitled comic book, instead of fighting alongside the Justice League, Sonic and the gang dress up as the iconic superheroes. Chief among them are Sonic as The Flash, Shadow as Batman, Amy as Wonder Woman, Silver as Green Lantern and Tails as Cyborg.
In addition to five issues of DC Comics, Sega has announced that it will release collector’s editions of comics and merchandise, including clothing, accessories and toys, in fall 2025. money and announced that the celebrations will also continue until 2026.
