Blizzard has made good on its promise to reveal all remaining details about Diablo 4 in Diablo 4 Season 5: Season of the Tribes. The upcoming season was officially revealed earlier this week, but we didn’t get concrete details on the core design changes until the developer update livestream.
In addition to releasing a massive full changelog for patch 1.5.0 (the patch that kicks off the new season next week), the developers have also taken a deep dive into class changes, a huge boost to unique items, tweaks to the Infernal Tribe, and more.

First, Blizzard turned its attention to the game’s unique items and mythic unique items. Season 5 will introduce 50 new legendary and unique items, and taking into account all the improvements Diablo 4’s loot received elsewhere with the help of Season 4: Loot Reborn, combining the power of unique items with legendary It makes sense for items to be consistent.
More specifically, unique gear has become less interesting as almost all other gear has become more powerful. New systems like Tempering and Masterwork also give players more freedom to create their perfect items, which further takes away from the excitement of chasing unique items.
In 1.5.0, Blizzard added some powerful stats to Uniques, which not only enhances their already impressive power, but also creates a place for them in the loot grind meta. The developers hope players will once again be able to create builds around Uniques’ curated stats, which will hopefully make chasing them a worthwhile goal once again.
Of course, Hell Tribe, the most important new endgame event of Season 5, has received quite a bit of love since the PTR. Access to wave-based modes has been greatly improved thanks to an increased drop rate for the compass used to enter the mode.
During Hell Tribe rounds, you’ll also find that the boss tank is no longer as powerful and will experience mini-events more frequently. Monster spawn rates have also been increased, so you’ll feel overwhelmed at the start of each wave.
Likewise, Hell Tribe rewards have been increased, especially burning Ether currency.
In addition to gear changes, the update also brings a number of buffs to different classes. Interestingly, the core stats for all classes are being adjusted so that you can get more damage by hitting fewer core stats. For example, a rogue will take 1% more damage for every 9 points of agility than for 10 points.
