The SEAL Team series finale is almost upon us.

SEAL Team Season 7 Episode 10 gave us a surprisingly feel-good ending that was far from what many of us imagined as the season progressed.

All the big arcs are wrapped up, and if there are any smaller arcs to note, it’s for good reason.

    The feel-good SEAL series finale

My interview with showrunner Spencer Hudnut accompanies this review. In it, he revealed that for nine episodes, they were under the impression that the series would continue.

This answers a lot of questions about the final season and even lends credence to many of our theories.

He said they had 30 pages of scripts to wrap up the entire season arc and the entire series.

It’s a very heavy burden to carry, but the SEAL Team series finale was brilliantly done considering the shocking and sad reality.

I’d even go so far as to say that it does a great job for the finale of any series, as they make a point of leading the main players into their next adventure.

    (Paul Arellano Spataro/Paramount+)

Since it was always expected that at least one of the main characters might not return for future seasons, the SEAL Team series finale provided a hopeful ending for most involved.

It also leaves the door open if anyone thinks this series has more life.

Jason’s journey of redemption is coming to an end

One of the most important journeys of the season is Jason’s cleansing of the shame he feels about his job.

It’s not easy to watch, and it doesn’t always make sense. But cleansing his soul by visiting the family of his first murderer was cathartic for both him and the audience.

He looked at the blood on his hands, which allowed him to embrace his future without guilt or shame.

Jason never had a life plan outside of the Navy. He was so deeply involved that he could not imagine life outside the battlefield.

    (Paul Arellano Spataro/Paramount+)

The SEAL Team series finale made a lot of sense for Jason Hayes, even though it’s hard to believe he chose to continue his life on the battlefield.

We’ve talked about this a lot this season, but Curtis really gets under the skin. Jason firmly believed that those with blood on their hands could never let go.

Jason proved this theory wrong as he stepped out of the helicopter for us one last time with a small smile on his face. With the love and support he needs from friends and family, he can continue to do what he does best.

Ultimately, Jason chose not to kill Curtis. But Drew didn’t hesitate. Although Drew had a hard time integrating into the series, by the SEAL Team series finale, he was at full strength.

    (Paul Arellano Spataro/Paramount+)

    Drew supports Jason

He had heard a lot about Jason before coming to Bravo, so he came to Bravo filled with dissatisfaction. But once they gained a foothold, Drew protected Bravo One.

He chose to kill Curtis for two reasons. One was just to rid the earth of that despicable man, but he also didn’t want Jason to suffer the consequences of not completing the blow.

After being introduced to Drew in the trials and tribulations of SEAL Team Season 7, I fell in love with this guy. He may be a little rough, but he has a big heart. I could have watched a season where he was “Bravo Two” and Omar was “Bravo One.”

    Jason’s happily ever after(ish)

The best news for Jason is that he and Mandy lived happily ever after.

They left their drab, cramped garage apartment and began living on the beach. Sure, they live in a funky old trailer, but they’re right where they want to be.

    (Michael Moriart/Paramount+)

Jason has a solid group of people around him both on and off the field, and I no longer worry about his future. Even if he died in battle, he would die happily and shamelessly. This is a victory.

I was ecstatic that Ray and Sonny accompanied him on Jason’s personal mission to escape his guilt.

To me personally, it seems unrealistic that he would be welcomed so warmly by his family, but if things didn’t go well, his best friends would be there for him.

That’s a far cry from much of SEAL Season 7.

It’s so frustrating that the writers didn’t know they were ending this story. If they had known, maybe they would have made different choices.

It’s heartwarming to get the team back together like this and reminds me of previous seasons.

    (Trey Patton/Paramount+)

I wish everyone a happy ending

Ray and Sonny also get their happy ending, which makes it all worth it.

Ray has struggled with leaving Bravo all season. He was very protective of Bravo and the idea of leaving them behind was just not possible for him.

You might think it would be enough to know that he and Naima created a sanctuary for fellow soldiers, but his focus is on active duty military personnel.

Families take care of returning soldiers, but the Navy should take care of those who are still serving.

I loved the dialogue in the SEAL Team series finale about how other societies, past and present, have supported their soldiers through purification rituals and penance.

    (Michael Moriart/Paramount+)

We are not meeting the historic needs of the force as we have in the past. It reminded me of the way Vietnam veterans were treated both on the battlefield and after returning home.

They carry out orders on behalf of the country, but become drug addicts and pariahs. It was a dark point in history, but we learned nothing.

I’m not sure if there’s a job for a new character like Ray, but there should be. This also suits Ray very well. He can continue to actively care for his brother, while Naima can care for those who have been neglected.

This takes a long time to resolve and many people don’t ask for help when they need it. This two-pronged approach is an ideal solution.

    Sonny’s selfless decision

Sonny’s selfless decision was one of my favorite stories from the SEAL Team series finale.

    (Michael Moriart/Paramount+)

It’s almost hard to imagine this is the same guy who relies on his battle boos to keep himself on the straight and narrow.

At the same time, it makes perfect sense to understand Clay’s desire for a fresh start and understand why Stella’s departure would have a major impact on him.

I love that Clay’s importance to the series and its characters continues to the end, not only for story purposes, but because it gives a better sense of how real men and women view losing teammates.

For Sonny, his conversation with Stella at Clay’s grave was illuminating.

    (Michael Moriart/Paramount+)

In SEAL Team Season 7 Episode 9, Sonny remains determined to hold on to his trident. But then he learns that Clay is willing to do whatever it takes to give Stella a chance to pursue her dream.

Lisa and Sonny are in trouble in SEAL Team Season 6, and their misdeeds are slowly catching up with them. Something has to give.

Sonny abandons his responsibilities to join Lisa in her new adventure in Washington. He finally realizes the benefit of putting others before himself.

Financially speaking, his medical kit should be ready. He also put Clay’s name on the gear to make sure Stella and Brian were taken care of.

Sonny’s journey came to a perfect conclusion in the SEAL Team series finale. He deserved it, leaving everything he and Lisa had known to create a new future together.

I just wish we could be a part of it.

    SEAL Series Finals Celebration

Some of the best SEAL moments have come outside of the battlefield and the Navy. When Bravo is having a drink or a family gathering.

The SEAL Team series finale doesn’t skimp on that front.

Whether it was at the bar or at Emma’s wedding, there was a lot of buzz and cheers for Bravo.

Somehow it never occurred to me that Jason would collapse on the dance floor. But with his conscience cleared, he is free to embrace his silly side and enjoy Emma’s big day.

    (Trey Patton/Paramount+)

I know we’ve talked a lot about how disappointing this season was in places, but I hope you agree that SEAL Team Season 7 Episode 10 had a surprisingly good ending.

What did you think of the SEAL Team series finale?

I’m sure you have a lot to say and I can’t wait to discuss it in the comments.

Thank you so much for being on this journey with TV Fanatic over the years. We enjoyed every minute of it!
