Executive producers David X. Cohen and Claudia Katz agree like Make a real big screen future world Speaking at an SDCC News Roundtable one day about the show before its Season 12 premiere. io9 had the opportunity to ask a question we often wonder: future world Has been on the air for 25 years. “It depends on what you’re looking at,” Cohen said. “because [animation studio] Rough Draft has all the art traceable forever. Like we update every decade they have to redraw everything at a higher resolution because TVs have more scan lines [laughs]”.
Katz interjected. The last time it was 4K, they had to redo everything. It’s funny because I showed it to David and we saw things we’d never noticed before because it was 4K. We were like, “What is that?” Did you put it there? “No, that’s always been there. ‘Oh, that’s cool,'” she said.
Cohen continued. “The other thing I would say that keeps this show coming back time and time again is that there’s a lot of continuity behind the scenes. For example, a lot of the same animators and producers at Rough Draft Studios, our entire voice cast Staying on the show, which is pretty critical, and statistically probably a little bit of luck, and then even the writing staff, even now, is at least half writers. [who] Been there on and off for over 20 years, and [we also] There are new people coming to the show as fans.
Katz added, “It’s the same thing in art – it’s like you have the staunch supporters and then you have the fresh people [talent]”.
Then Cohen had a secret to share about how the show’s writers managed to keep all of that future world Kill straight. “I’m going to admit with embarrassment that in the writers’ room we’re constantly checking out these fan sites to see what happened in the old episodes. Of course, “sometimes, we forget things. Like, there’s an animation mistake — you don’t want to blame the animators because everyone forgets,” he said. “The writers didn’t say anything about it.
