In “Scarlet Witch” #6, which will be released in November, Marvel introduces a new magical apprentice, Amaranth. Writer Steve Orlando and artist Lorenzo Tametta have created a new student for the ongoing Scarlet Witch series, though its origins remain a mystery.
Introducing amaranth! At the request of Agatha Harkness, the Scarlet Witch adopts a mysterious new student. But where did this young witch known as “Amaranth” come from? What made Agatha pass up the chance to mentor her?
“I’ve been interested in Amaranth ever since she debuted in Jen Bartel’s gorgeous variant cover,” Orlando shares. “Who is she? What is her story—no, her mystery? So when the opportunity came up to bring her into Scarlet Witch and explore those questions with the rest of the creative team, I was ecstatic. “Take Amaranth Through the Last Door” gives us the opportunity to subvert Wanda’s dynamic in a scene where she is faced with a powerful and mysterious presence that she struggles to figure out – something that is inconsistent with her earlier dynamics Instead, Amaranth’s unique talents hint at auspicious origins and impressive powers, but her life is marked by tragedy and there may not be anyone in the Marvel Universe who can help her, but if there is – then. It’s the Scarlet Witch.
