Metaverse platform Sandbox has launched a new Trivia game template as part of its game maker 0.11 update, enabling creators to design interactive quiz-style games in the platform’s virtual environment.
Instead of using a traditional menu-based interface, the template relies on player movement and timing responses within 3D space. Players must physically move their game avatars to stand on the tiles representing their chosen answer. The wrong answer leads to elimination, turning the quiz into a survival-based challenge.
The template is fully editable, allowing users to enter their own questions and adjust the format to suit different types of gameplay.

What new features are there in the sandbox?
Trivia Game Template is the main addition feature in the game maker’s version 0.11, which allows users to create games where gamers answer multiple choice questions by moving to the world tiles. After the timer runs out, the tiles with incorrect answers crash and the players standing on them will be removed from the game.
Creators can customize the problem, the layout of the tiles, and the number of rounds. The system uses the existing logic and interactive tools of the sandbox and does not require external programming. The platform’s GitBook provides a complete guide and other tutorials are shared through live conferences.
This template is available for free through the game maker software.

Why is this important?
The introduction of trivia formats expands the genres of games that can be built in the sandbox, and to date the game has focused primarily on exploration, platforming and combat-based gameplay. The new template introduces knowledge-based challenges through time pressure and body positioning, providing different types of player engagement.
The move could attract a wider range of creators, including educators, event organizers, and people who want to create social or competitive experiences based on quizzes. While the sandbox has not announced any official trivia contests, the template enables users to build such formats independently.
This latest update reflects Sandbox’s ongoing investment in expanding its user base to expand creative tools and encourages various gaming genres within its platform.
