Alien: Romulus Starting with our heroine Rain, who plays Kelly Spaenya young woman lives in a space colony on a sunless planet. She dreams of a life where she can feel the sun on her skin. She takes care of her younger brother Andy (provided by david johnsonLooking a little different from the others, he must be protected in this world. Believing that her employment contract has expired, she attempts to escape the world, but is rejected by Wayland-Yutani. She gets a call from her friend Taylor (Archie Leno) He tells her that he and their friends have a plan to leave this world and live a better life. All they have to do is travel to an abandoned spaceship, take the cryopod with them, and head to another galaxy. One problem is that they need Andy, her brother, who is not human but an android. From there, things will happen as you expect alien story.

Fede AlvarezThe director and co-writer of the new series took many cues from the past when designing the look of the film. Since this movie takes place alien and alienthe aesthetic design we see will feel familiar. Even older computers like the Apple II that might appear in the future. The film has real locations and the actors’ touch in these places helps to dispel suspicion. This is one of the most emotional alien Of all the sequels I’ve seen. The way the film is shot really helps create a sci-fi horror tension that isn’t always present in these films. Gallo OlivaresThroughout the unsettling adventure Rain and Andy go on, the photographer and Alvarez make many smart choices in utilizing enclosed spaces. Benjamin WalfishResponsible for the music, he incorporates visual effects that further drive the tension, while also introducing thematic threads from the earlier films where appropriate to connect to some of the story and visual homages to those films. While for some others it may feel a little too stimulating, it works great for me.
The performances of Spaeny and Jonsson carry much of the film. Cailee Spaeny, you may know her civil war earlier this year, or maybe the movie Priscilla Last year, the female lead in “Alien” was very good. The story’s themes feel relevant to the real world, as this group of characters feels like adults from Generation Z dealing with the overwhelming presence of late-stage capitalism. Despite not being the leader, Rain is ultimately the most sane and morally clear member of the group outside of Andy. At times, she feels different from the “Ripley” type, but falls into that archetype in the final scene. Her best character relationship is with Jonson’s Andy, who starts out as the brother she needs to take care of until he changes due to the events of the story. You get a dynamic that brings a conflict, like we had with Bishop in the early movies or David in the later two prequel movies, and we see that in those movies over time. kind of conflict. To me, Andy feels dynamically different because he’s the most pragmatic of the other robot characters. He is not a cold machine working for the company, nor is he a resentful person paradise lost A character who hates his creator as much as Satan does. All of this can be seen in Jonson’s face, in how he uses his expression and his gaze.

Isabella MercedThe role of Kai seems small at first but grows in size as the story progresses. She’s an actor who keeps working, and some would call her a live-action version of Dora the Explorer, or maybe the one she was in earlier this year’s really bad Mrs. Web movie. Here she does a lot of classic horror movie girl stuff, doing things that make you want to yell at the screen. She was able to sell those fears to the audience with those big eyes. You get the sense that she is very scared and is trying not to die. In these scenes, she feels more like Ripley from Alien than Wren. I wish I had a lot to say Archie Leno As Taylor and Spike Finn as Bjorn, but their characters don’t have much for you to care about other than expecting terrible things to happen to them. The character of Bjorn is unnecessarily a bit too much of a jerk. Wu Ailin At least she looked cool playing cargo ship pilot Navarro.

I love that this movie tries to feel different and familiar at the same time. It’s able to serve fans of the series as well as people for whom this movie might be their first. As I said before, everything in this movie feels tactile and tangible. The use of animatronics and prosthetics is a welcome sight in a film like this. It blends computer effects with these practical effects in a way that rarely distracts you or breaks your immersion. I really enjoyed this movie and look forward to watching it again, hopefully in 4DX, to see some things I might not have noticed. Alien: Romulus It’s a tense, creepy, and welcome series that returns more to its origins than the first two installments did to most people. The film could bring a new storyline to attract a whole new generation of viewers.
