There’s a magic in the air when you talk to “Winona Earp: Revenge” stars Melanie Scrofano and Tim Rozon.

The on-screen chemistry between Winona Earp and Doc Holliday spilled over effortlessly in real life.

When we met online to discuss the highly anticipated Tubi special, it became clear that this wasn’t just another project for them; it was a labor of love fueled by loyal fans and deep personal connections.

    return to purgatory

For Melanie and Tim, returning to their characters and returning to Purgatory felt more like a homecoming than just another show.

“This is a dream come true,” Melanie said with a smile. “There’s no place like home, and even if your home is really messy, that’s where your heart is.”

Tim echoed her sentiments, adding: “We’re going back to characters we love, people we want to work with again, and a crew we love so much. We’re so lucky.

It’s clear from their words that Wynonna Earp is more than just the two’s work. It was a unique experience that allowed them to grow, not only as actors, but as people. Of course, it also helps that fans are clamoring for more.

Melanie made it clear that she still had unfinished business on her mind. “I think it’s just…nobody’s done with it. We’re not done with it yet; the fans aren’t done with it yet,” she said. “I felt like we didn’t hold on and the fans weren’t over it.”

Tim, who plays the gruff yet endearing Doc Holliday, chimed in that when he heard the show was coming back, the first thing he thought about wasn’t even the job, it was the fans.

“I get the call and I think about the fans and how lucky they are and how surprised they will be to see more of the show.”

So, what is it about Wynonna Earp that has captured people’s hearts for so long?

Both actors agree it comes down to one thing: the perfect combination of people working together to create something authentic.

Melanie credits show creator Emily Andras for setting the tone.

“Emily Andras is a force, she sets the perfect tone for imperfection…” she says before launching into the story of the show’s director, Paul Bartzman.

“He took me out for a croissant, and he was very French, and I remember being really vulnerable with him and telling him I might be nervous. He said, ‘Great, I know how to deal with that kind of honesty. .That’s how we tell this story—to be authentic and lean into the uncomfortable.

Tim also reflected on the surreal nature of the series.

“Our storylines are so ridiculous sometimes. But if you just think about it on paper, the things we’re asking people to care about are absolutely ridiculous — and they do.” He laughs, still impressed by the show’s impact “This is the magic sauce. It has it all.

While fans have been eagerly awaiting Winona and Doc’s return, don’t expect their torrid relationship to magically resolve in the three years since they rode off into the sunset.

In fact, according to Tim, their communication issues still persist. “Unfortunately, I don’t think it does anything to help their communication. They’re both still guarding what their hearts truly desire, which is sad.

Melanie quickly agreed and delved into the relevance of their dynamic. “I think it’s funny because the reason they don’t communicate is because they love each other so much. “I just won’t say it, I’ll act like it’s fine. “I find that really relevant,” she admits.

There was one element of their relationship that hit home for many fans. Even in a world filled with demons, gunmen, and centuries-old curses, the emotional beats are rooted in real human struggles.

“Whether you have a gun in your hand or whether someone has been dead for 100 years, that doesn’t change,” Melanie said. “None of that matters because these relationships are so realistic in tone.”

    Return of the actors

It’s not just Winona and Doc’s relationship that’s been rekindled. For Melanie and Tim, reconnecting with other actors has brought its own joy.

Melanie reflected on Winona’s relationship with Purgatory itself, saying, “I think as long as Winona has her people — Doc, Waverly, Nicole, and Jeremy — then everything else is It’s okay to go by. She’s happy with it.

But make no mistake—this isn’t just a random follow-up from fans. The events of the special will have a lasting impact on the story and characters, affecting everything on every level.

While the special is billed as a one-off, both actors have hinted that more shows may be coming in the future.

Tim said it best: “I will never say goodbye to this character again. Whenever Emily Andras calls upon me to be Doc Holliday or John Henry in any form, I will do it.” Prepare.

    An emotional farewell…for now

As the conversation begins to wind down, both Melanie and Tim get a little emotional discussing Winona Earp’s influence. means to them.

“That’s not going to happen,” Melanie said, her voice cracking. “This is not a normal thing. So it’s really important to stick to what you love.

Tim agreed. “He might be an undead vampire slayer, and she might be a leather-pants Harley-Davidson, a hero with a burden on his back, but… I believe [their] No matter what happens, love is real.

As a philosopher, Tim summed it up perfectly with a quote that could easily have come from Holliday himself: “It doesn’t matter where you die; it matters where you die.” Where you spend your time matters. important.

Perhaps that’s the best way to describe the essence of Winona Earp: Revenge — a story about where we choose to spend our time, the people we cherish, and the relationships that continue to shape us long after the battle is over .

Melanie ended by simply saying, “Welcome home.”

In fact, for Wynonna Earp fans, it feels like we never left.

Winona Earp: Revenge premieres on Tubi on Friday, September 13th.
