It’s time to review Star Wars: Desperados . Statistics show that I have spent 84 hours and 30 minutes playing this game since its release. I enjoyed almost every minute of it. Yes, I love this game. No, I like this game. That’s all I’ve ever wanted from a Star Wars video game. It’s a near-perfect recreation of Star Wars from the original trilogy era, open world, multiple planets, and you can see and experience many of your favorite locations imaginable.
Most importantly, the main character, Kay, is a relatable, deeply likeable woman who is flawed, imperfect, and makes mistakes, but perseveres, learns, trains, gets better, and never gives up hope. I’d say she’s the best female character in Disney-era Star Wars so far, along with Merlin from the Jedi games, and honestly one of the best female characters in Star Wars. Don’t believe the hatred towards her.
While the online narrative surrounding this game is very strange, I urge you all to forget for a moment everything you may or may not have heard and just look at the game for what it is. The first open-world single-player Star Wars game. Set in the original trilogy, shortly after The Empire Strikes Back and before Return of the Jedi, it delivers what people keep asking for these days: good old escapism. In Outlaws you can forget all that and imagine what it would be like to live in the Star Wars galaxy. In a word, it is “fun”.
If you want to know more, read my review of the game, there are no real spoilers in my review, I have no story spoilers at all, so everyone can read safely, just click here or the image below Can.
A disclaimer for some people…no, I’m not on Disney’s payroll (it would be hilarious to even suggest it), no, I wasn’t invited to Disneyland (I wish!), and no, Ubisoft doesn’t even know about me existed, so they never sent me a review copy, and I actually purchased the game with my own money.
