Image Comics has been announced seasona new fantasy horror series the writer is working on Rick Raymondartist Paul Asacetaand colorist Matthews Lopez. The manga, which begins on January 15, 2025, tells the story of the four Shiki sisters, whose parents, the world-famous Detective Shiki, disappeared ten years ago. Now the sisters themselves are being plundered, and only the smallest of seasons, spring, can save her family.
Summer, Winter, Spring and Autumn are the sisters of the seasons, daughters of the world-famous Season Detective. Ten years ago, their famous parents disappeared. The sisters fended for themselves and formed an unbreakable bond. Now, that bond is tested as the sisters fall prey to evil forces. Spring, the youngest sister, is the last hope to save them from a fate worse than death. Can Spring reunite her shattered family before it’s too late?
Remender elaborated on the story in a press release, naming the villain, as well as some of the unexpected repercussions. “Paul and I work tirelessly to create a world unlike anything we have done before,” he said. “Inspired by [Hayao] Hayao Miyazaki, Windsor MacKay and dinkwe wanted to make something enjoyable, poignant and heartfelt. We hope you discover the magic of Sisters of the Seasons as much as we do. The boss is equally scary as his little devil. Paul and Matthews have created one of the most compelling and dynamic comics on the modern market.
Asaceta added: “I had a lot of fun with this book. I think we made a great difference with it. We challenged ourselves and I’m really happy with the results. This kind of project makes me feel good about comics.” Excited, but also pushing me to push my art in new directions. The artist will be speaking more about the comic at the New York Comic Con “Image Comics Presents: Breaking Ground” panel on Sunday at 11am in Room 406.2.
