Reebok has announced the release of a limited edition “Alien: Romulus” shoe, a revamped version of the futuristic Reebok “Alien Stompers” worn by Ripley and Bishop. alien.
The shoe is called the “Reebok Alien Romulus” and sells for $170. The shoe was designed specifically for the film, and Reebok has released replicas in recent years that are highly sought after by fans and sneaker collectors alike.
The description reads: “For publication Alien: Romulusthe storied franchise will reignite excitement with the commercial release of a unique and eye-catching shoe that will be worn in the upcoming film.
Sourced from the archives and based on Reebok Basketball’s iconic BB4000 II frame, the “Reebok Alien Romulus” is designed to fight the big bugs and features a full leather upper, distressed film wear surfaces, tongue and heel tabs. Weyland-Yutani logos, an EVA foam midsole, and a solid rubber cup base with a grippy traction pattern, among other “Easter eggs.”
The Reebok x Alien collaboration has become one of the most epic mash-ups between film and footwear today, with the 1986 film’s “Alien Stomper” boot retaining “holy grail” status in contemporary sneaker culture. The two brands will collaborate on additional products in 2016 (celebrating the 30th anniversary of Alien) and 2019-20 (celebrating the 40th anniversary of the original 1979 film).
