Prime Video is preparing to expand one of its most successful shows and potentially launch a spin-off series, TVLine reports. The new series will focus on Frances Neagley, a former member of Jack Reacher’s Army Corps 110th MP Special Investigation Team.
Maria Stein, known for her roles in Swamp Thing and Channel Zero, played Negli on both seasons of Reacher and will return for the upcoming third season. According to Deadline , Stan is expected to star in the spin-off, although Niggly did not appear in the source material for the third season of Lee Child’s Persuaders.
Amazon has yet to officially comment on the spinoff rumors. (Or as Lee Child puts it, “Prime Video isn’t saying anything.”) But it’s certainly exciting news for fans who might want to watch both shows in this universe. Until that announcement is made, though, I’m going to have to make a Vespers martini and wait.
Neagley, like Reacher, left the Army as a sergeant major and now works for a private security company. The character also suffers from tactophobia, a fear of being touched, which made a pivotal moment from last season all the more important when she comforted a dying hero who sacrificed himself to save a young girl.
Recalling the emotional scene, Sten told TVLine, “In this moment, she knew that this man was about to leave this earth, and in that moment, he needed to connect.” Sten added that Niggli’s typical reluctance to let others The act of getting closer stems from her ongoing insecurities, but in this case she finds a rare moment of vulnerability.
“Rachel” was such a hit on Prime Video that it was renewed for a second season three days after its premiere. The show, fronted by Alan Ritchson, dominates the streaming charts, with 1.7 billion minutes watched for the first three episodes of its second season, according to Nielsen.
Nicholas Wootton, who previously worked with “Prison Break” showrunner Nick Santora, is reportedly helping to develop a “Niger” spin-off, and if the project goes well, he will serve as co-showrunner.
