To help promote super pickerJackbox gave me the opportunity to ask their Director of Engineering, Brad Watt, some questions about how it came about and what it means for the future. I think there are some fascinating insights.
I know I’ve personally been begging for something like the Megapicker for years, and imagine everyone else has too, so I’d like to start by saying a huge thank you to all of us. What ultimately makes something like the Megapicker possible? Is this a technical issue? An interesting question? Anything else?
this super picker It’s something we’ve wanted to do for a long time, but the logistics of it have been a sticking point. We work hard to ensure that all of our products are available on as many platforms as possible, but some platforms can bring concepts like this: super picker An impossible person.
Once we accepted this (sad) reality, it allowed us to really rethink what we wanted to publish. We now hope to have a tangible product on Steam that will help us work with partners on other platforms to bring Megapicker to them!
When Megapicker launches, it will only be available on Steam. Are there plans/possible to bring Megapicker to other platforms?
Planning is a bit of a strong word – there are definitely aspirations and goals, but, as mentioned above, there are logistical challenges in doing so. Other platforms (especially consoles) have stricter paradigms and can make something like super picker At best it’s confusing, at worst it’s a poor user experience.
Steam provides a level of flexibility where we can leverage your existing library and purchasing methods to super picker is a transparent utility based on what you already have. For other platforms, such tiering capabilities may not be possible and may require complex operations, such as things like repurchasing the game or doubling the storage space.
As I said, we definitely want to have a unified offering across all platforms, so we’ll continue to investigate and work with our partners to determine feasibility.
For players, the Megapicker will be a godsend, but I’m curious, how will the implementation of the Megapicker affect the future of Jackbox games?
This will definitely change the results of our community feedback survey!
this super picker First and foremost, it will always be a utility for our fans and players who want to use it. We have no intention of changing anything we are doing to replace super picker. Our version has always been able to stand on its own.
That said, we have a lot of plans super picker Enhanced Jackbox game. One thing we realized very early on is that super picker Giving us a level of flexibility that our release cycle doesn’t have.
We can update Megapicker at any time, which provides some freedom for experimentation. what does that mean? We don’t know; but we have a lot of ideas we’d like to explore, from being able to keep post-game galleries for over a year, to being able to reuse the same room codes throughout game nights, to possibly getting some prototypes or early mechanics in front of players . No promises – just a glimpse of what we have in mind!
What’s your favorite Jackbox game to play?
I’m really bad at drawing – I can’t draw a stick figure to save my life – so of course I’m partial to anything Full of style. It’s my time to shine!
