The PlayStation 5 Pro is available for pre-order now at Target. Other major retailers including Amazon and Best Buy will also start taking pre-orders today (October 10). The PS5 Pro will cost $700 and will be released on November 7, the same day as the new Chroma Collection DualSense controller and case.
The PS5 Pro isn’t the only console up for pre-order at major retailers today. Pre-orders for the PS5 Slim Digital Anniversary Edition begin today at 7 a.m. PT/10 a.m. ET.
PS5 Pro is a purely digital game console, but it supports PlayStation, the $80 optical disc drive accessory released last year. If you prefer to stand your console upright, you’ll need to spend $30 on the PlayStation Vertical Stand. All told, plus local tax rates, you’re looking at a price tag of $810.
$700 | Published November 7
Currently, the only major retailer taking PS5 Pro pre-orders is Target. Both Amazon and Best Buy have listing pages, but neither retailer has opened pre-orders yet.
PS5 Pro features a larger GPU that, according to Sony, renders 45% faster and supports enhanced visual technologies such as artificial intelligence-driven upgrades and advanced ray tracing. In addition, it is equipped with a 2TB SSD, which is twice the base storage space of the PS5 Slim model. Storage space is quite important from a cost perspective, as adding 1TB to an existing PS5 model typically costs around $100.
The console also features minimal design updates, with wider “racing stripes” on the side panels. It comes with the standard DualSense 5 controller. Additional DualSense controllers will cost $75-$80 each, depending on color, reflecting a $5 price increase that recently took effect.
$80
The PS5 Pro’s 2TB SSD means it can store more games than the launch and Slim PS5 models, but if you plan on playing physical games on the PS5 Pro, you’ll also need the PS5 disc drive accessory. The $80 add-on launched last holiday for the PS5 Slim Digital, but it’s also compatible with the upcoming PS5 Pro.
Due to increased interest, the disc drive has been difficult to find in stock, but as of October 10, Amazon, Walmart, and Best Buy have it in stock. Target is sold out, you need to be a Pro member to purchase from GameStop.
