Nintendo will soon add another beloved Pokémon game to the Switch’s catalog of classic games. “Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Red Rescue Team” will be available on Nintendo Switch Online + expansion pack service on August 9.
Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Red Rescue Team, originally released on the Game Boy Advance in 2006, is a roguelike game in which players take on the role of a human character who mysteriously transforms into a Pokémon. After meeting partner Pokémon and building a rescue team together, players explore dungeons and perform various tasks to help other Pokémon out of trouble and solve the mystery of their transformations.
Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Red Rescue Team was originally released alongside the Blue Rescue Team version for the Nintendo DS. Both games were remade on Nintendo Switch in 2020 as Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Rescue Team DX.
Once released, Pokémon Mystery Dungeon will be available through Nintendo Switch Online’s Expansion Pack Program. The premium service includes all the benefits of the basic plan, plus access to select Nintendo Switch DLC and a library of classic Nintendo 64, Game Boy Advance and Sega Genesis games.
A basic Nintendo Switch Online subscription costs $20 per year, while expansion memberships cost $50 per year. Nintendo also offers an $80 annual family plan that covers up to eight Nintendo accounts, even across multiple systems.
