One of the biggest new features in the Pokemon Go Max Out season is Dynamaxing, a phenomenon first introduced in Pokemon Sword and Shield. Dynamaxing amplifies Pokemon to gigantic proportions, giving them power boosts and some unique moves to use in battle.
Like other features in the main Pokemon series, Dynamaxing in Pokemon Go works slightly differently than in Sword and Shield, so here’s an overview of how to earn maximum particles and Dynamax for your Pokemon.
Which Pokémon can Dynamax?
While any Pokemon can Dynamaxing in Pokemon Sword and Shield, only specific monsters can do this in Pokemon Go.
Specifically, only Pokémon caught around a maximum battle or energy point have the ability to Dynamax, meaning you can’t Dynamax an existing Pokémon. You can tell if a Pokemon is capable of Dynamaxing by looking for the Dynamax symbol on the screen.
As mentioned before, Pokemon spawned around power points are capable of dynamic maxing, just like Pokemon you battle and capture in max battles. You can also get some Dynamax Pokemon by completing the “To The Max” special research mission you receive at the beginning of the season.

How to get the maximum number of particles

In order to Dynamax your Pokémon, you must first collect a new type of energy called a Max Particle. You can obtain Max Particles by completing the “Maximize” special research mentioned above and by interacting with power points around the map. Max Particles are also sold through Pokemon Go’s in-game item shop.
Maximum number of battles
Once you’ve collected enough Max Particles, you can perform Dynamax attacks on compatible Pokémon by participating in Max Battles, a new type of raid that takes place at Power Points.
To enter a max battle, you must spend a certain amount of max particles, depending on the strength of the instance boss. As you fight bosses, you’ll gradually fill up the Pokémon Max Gauge at the top of the screen. Once the meter is full, your Pokémon will perform a super burst for three turns, allowing you to use its maximum movement during its transformation.
If you successfully defeat the raid boss, you’ll receive various rewards, including the chance to capture the Dynamax Pokémon you just battled. You can also place one of your Dynamax Pokemon at this power point to receive candy, and help other players who challenge Max Battle at that location gain a damage bonus.
Maximum number of moves
After transforming, Dynamax Pokemon are able to use an exclusive attack called “Max Move”. Each Dynamax Pokémon starts out with a maximum moveset, the type of which is based on your Pokémon’s quick attacks. Spending Candies and Max Particles, you can power up your Dynamax Pokemon and learn two additional Max Moves: Max Spirit and Max Guard.
Max Spirit is a support move that heals your Pokémon and allies during battle. Max Defense, on the other hand, is a defensive move that reduces the damage you take from raid bosses. You can upgrade each max move to increase its effectiveness.
