Paddington Bear is one of the cutest big-screen lads in recent memory, so it’s understandable that we’re excited about the new film, Paddington Peru, coming out in November. Meanwhile, StudioCanal is letting everyone know that it’s very bullish on the property, as another movie and a new series are confirmed to be in the works.
Via The Hollywood Reporter , the 2024 European Brand Licensing Conference (held in London) brought news that the company is doubling down on its investment in the IP as Paddington has “transformed from a classic character into a global cultural phenomenon.”

Of course, there’s always the risk of burying something good in the ground, and that’s likely to end up happening with everyone’s favorite CGI bear. For now, however, most people seem just happy to see more of the lad voiced by Ben Whishaw.
Françoise Guyonnet, CEO of StudioCanal Children and Family, said during the event: “We are also working on a new TV series and a new movie that will be released in 2027 (28).” However, StudioCanal seems to be progressing slowly: “This year The focus is on content, experience and digital strategy to provide Paddington with optimal exposure.” From a big CEO perspective, he’s not wrong. While these movies have been successful so far, they’re not exactly Minion-level blockbusters, so there’s still a lot of work to be done to make the character as big as Universal’s little guy, especially in appealing to younger people. The trailer for Paddington in Peru (which you can check out below) is delightful, but you can easily tell that Paul King’s spark behind the camera is missing. Still, we’re hoping for a good time with Dougal Wilson’s feature directorial debut; you may know him from his work in various music videos, such as Coldplay’s “Busted or Life in Technicolor II” in “Year 3000”.

Additionally, the Paddington Bear musical is about to hit theaters. According to Guyonnet: “At the end of next year we are launching a musical in the West End with one of the best producers, Sonia Freeman, which is a big deal.” So far, we know that Paddington Bear: The Musical (working title) will have music and lyrics by Tom Fletcher, screenplay by Jessica Swale and director by Luke Sheppard.
