Pitt: Everything we know so far about Max’s medical drama

For those excited about Max’s upcoming medical drama “Pete,” bear with me.

The cast has been confirmed, the script has been written, and the main actors have been confirmed, but the show will start filming for the first time this month and is not expected to be completed until February 2025.

There are a few medical dramas out there, but they are not the most dominant genre in the industry.

Pitt has to bring something new and exciting to the table, especially if producers want to reach the heights of “House,” “ER” and “Grey’s Anatomy” (just to name a few).

Luckily, producers still have a lot of work to do, especially in the wake of the pandemic when most existing franchises have to adapt on the fly. Max is the perfect home for a new hit medical drama that will join ER, The Knick and a host of reality medical shows.

With “Grey’s Anatomy,” “The Good Doctor” and “Chicago Med” joining the cast, Pitt will be primed to try to capture the hearts of new audiences.

    What would Pete say?

Most people are familiar with the medical procedure format, and Pitt Hospital does not disappoint in this regard.

However, the show strives to stand out from the competition and focus on healthcare workers in today’s environment. The U.S. health care industry is a complex network politically, scientifically, and economically.

Many of the most popular shows present character studies amid the action. Pitt is moving away from the personal and limited intertwined drama between its characters to focus on the broader challenges faced by health care workers.

Realism was the buzzword on set. This makes sense given the location—an urban hospital in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. What better way to showcase the achievements and plight of America’s health care industry workers than in an urban setting?

The chaos of serving a high-density population concentrated in a small area should make for entertaining television, and that’s just before the dramatic elements. It’s not hard to imagine Pitt playing the role of Hulu’s Bear in a hospital setting.

How many episodes are there in the first season of Pete?

If there’s one thing we’re getting used to in modern television, it’s that episodes are getting shorter. There was a time when 20 episodes per season was a given. Nowadays, 6 to 8 episode plots are common, with occasional stretches extending to 10 episodes.

Amazingly, Pitt finds a happy compromise between the golden age of big seasons and today’s severely pared-down, budget-conscious programming. Fifteen episodes is the magic number. If you’re into a high-octane, grueling medical drama, you’ll get plenty.

Of course, as far as its background is concerned, medical dramas do not require the CG feast that is prevalent on the big screen today. Replacing your green screen with a dazzling display for less money opens up new avenues for longevity.

It also has an interesting connection to ER (a show that has a lot to do with Pete’s existence) since it lasted 15 seasons.

Is there a trailer for “Pete”?

Filming is set to wrap in February 2025, so a trailer isn’t expected to be released until sometime next year. However, the moment the trailer drops, you’ll find it right here, along with our thoughts! Trailer releases are a little different than TV and movie trailers.

Each episode has its own mini post-production process, but there’s still a lot that needs to be done during the actual post-production process. With multiple directors, writers, and producers on each episode, it gets a little confusing.

Also note that February 2025 is only an estimate. Throughout the production process, a lot of things can happen, any one of which could push the date back. Unfortunately, it never seems to work the other way around.

Who will star in Pitt’s movie?

From a distance, Pitt is nothing more than an extension or a remake of ER. In fact, the original plan was the former. The original cast of ER is mostly intact, with Noah Wyle in the title role.

    R. Scott Gemmill, co-creator of “NCIS: Los Angeles” and “ER,” and John Wells, also known for “ER” ) reunion. The new series of Max, starring Noah Wyle, is in a capable and experienced hand. The rest of the cast was announced in mid-July.

    • Noah Wyle (ER, Librarian)
    • Shabana Aziz (bird eater)
    • Catherine LaNasa (Activity)
    • Trish Ifejo (Crime of treason)
    • Supriya Ganesh (growing up)
    • Patrick Bauer (Law & Order)
    • Jaylan Howell (Catch-22)
    • Tyler Dearden (American Vandal)
    • Fiona Dourif (children’s games)
    • Isa Briones (goosebumps)

Of course, this is just the main cast. The nature of a medical procedural/drama requires new faces, cameos, and recurring characters that we don’t get to know yet. There are certainly many.

    Where to watch Pitt

The Pitt is Max’s exclusive space and the show’s premiere will be held there. Max has ordered a 15-episode season of the show, but we currently know very little about the release details.

Shows like House of the Dragon prove that streaming platforms haven’t given up on the weekly episode release model, which can sometimes be hard to believe.

While there’s no reason to rule out the possibility of multiple episodes being released, we may have to wait 15 weeks to see the full story. This is wishful thinking of course, but it happens.

Meanwhile, ER is available on Max. Because of its close creative relationship with Pete and Noah Wyle, ER is a great way to get a feel for the style and flow created by the showrunners.

    When will Pitt premiere?

Like the trailer, a premiere date has not yet been confirmed. The show is expected to complete filming in early 2025, so there is still plenty of time for a 2025 release. However, as mentioned before, what happens on and off set could change the entire paradigm.

Promotional strategies, Max’s streaming scheduling, and post-production complexities all come into play. Fortunately, a medical drama like “Pitt” is unlikely to have many heavy special effects moments, which will reduce the time between filming and release.

As usual, once the trailers and premiere dates are confirmed, we’ll post them here along with our thoughts and opinions. You know where to find us!
