Filming on Sony’s movie will begin later this month until dawn Movie. After confirming most of its main cast a few months ago, the film has added three more cast members, with fan-favorite Peter Stormare among the big names.
In the original PlayStation 4 game, Stormare played Dr. Hill, a therapist who appeared between chapters to analyze players’ choices and their fears. Insiders who spoke to The Hollywood Reporter claim that he will reprise the role in the film, but that he will be psychoanalyzing a seemingly new set of characters. Also joining the cast is Maia Mitchell (fosters) and Belmont Camelli (saved by bell). Who are they playing? That’s unclear, as is the case with fellow stars Ella Rubin, Ji-young Yoo and Odessa A’zion. It’s unclear what the movie will be about, and how it will handle the game’s branching paths, which is why players love it so much.
By all accounts, director David F. Sandberg is excited until dawn to mark his return to horror after spending the past few years making Shazam Movie. In a statement to The Hollywood Reporter, he said the film will “explore the many great sub-genres of horror to create the scariest experience possible.” The characters may be new to the film, but he said it will is “a great standalone introduction” that captures the essence of Supermassive’s hit game and “offers something new that fans of the game will love”.
Reading between the lines, fans of the original game should probably expect this to be until dawn Nominally more than anything else. Whatever changes are coming, they’re probably going to annoy you, but on the bright side, at least there’s going to be a remaster for PlayStation 5 and PC sometime this year that keeps the original experience intact?
