Prometheus gave humans fire, and Hermes brought us another season of his divine podcast, Live on Mount Olympus. Get ready to learn more about the most notorious and misunderstood characters in Greek mythology.
The Onassis Foundation once again brings us the timeless tales of Greek mythology, told by storytellers, travelers, thieves and more. AndrĂ© De Shields as Hermes (Cats: Jellicle Ball, Huddleston) shows us moments of myth in which words are heard directly from the mouths of mortals and gods alike. “GodsPod” brings together vocal talent from theater and film, and is illustrated by New Yorker cartoonist Jason Adam Katzenstein.
Nedra Mary Taylor (Book of Mormon, Elementary School) joins the cast as Pandora, the first mortal woman sculpted from clay by the Olympian gods. The lore varies from adaptation to adaptation, but the core premise is that Pandora opened a vessel containing something evil, such as the Plague, that would plague humanity forever. Still, the Onassis Foundation, PRX, and TEAM all say this will be the first time Pandora “takes control of its own narrative,” promising to provide surprising details that have been left out of previous retellings of the story.
Live from Mount Olympus is a complete production with a diverse cast and immersive sound design. The podcast is a unique learning experience in its own right, paired with educational tools from inquireED and ACS Athens.
Live from Mount Olympus Available for free on-demand through all major platforms. Season 5: Pandora Premieres on October 15th.
