Build-A-Bear, home of the homemade stuffed toy retail experience, has announced that it will launch a second batch of fall-themed stuffed animals in October. Retail guests can choose from multiple licensed characters and beloved animals from the company’s vault collection.
Build-A-Bear has found its niche among “kids,” adults with the purchasing power who are interested in products aimed at children. According to Circana research, toys, stuffed animals and collectibles purchased by adults are now the most important industry sectors. Forty percent of the company’s consumer base is teenagers and adults.
Customers are increasingly interested in our scary-sweet Halloween products. While children remain our core consumers, Build-A-Bear has also grown significantly in youth and adult sales over the past few years, so this has an increasing impact on concept, design and licensing decisions , especially with regard to the exclusive age-restricted area on our corporate website known as “The Bear’s Cave.”
Expected releases include Pumpkin Cat, an orange cat with pumpkins printed on its fur. The item went viral in August after an unauthorized leak and quickly sold out. More than 55,000 names are on the waiting list for October’s return.
Build-A-Bear also releases a Disney collection The nightmare before christmas. The main character, Jack Skellington, is shaped like a bear, while Sally features their iconic song. The plush toys also include a glowing ghost dog, Zero, a neon green Ooogie Boogie monster and the mayor. Costumes for existing Build-A-Bear plush toys are also available.
In addition to Disney-licensed characters, OctoBEAR promises plush toys inspired by classic Halloween movies as well as holiday costumes for existing plush toys. The company also released a line of products to celebrate Day of the Dead, including a skeleton teddy bear and two outfits.
Build-A-Bear’s OctobEAR products are available online and in all US, UK and Canadian stores. The company has more than 500 stores across the country. To learn more, visit buildabear.com.
