According to reports, Nvidia plans to launch the upcoming GeForce RTX 5090 graphics card with 32GB GDDR7 memory. Hardware leaker Kopite7kimi released rumored specs for the RTX 5090 and RTX 5080 today, with both cards reportedly set to be more power-hungry as Nvidia looks to launch next-generation GPUs with more power.
The RTX 5090 is said to have 600W specs, although video card pointed out that it is unclear whether this refers to the power consumed by the entire GPU board, or the power consumed by the chip itself. Regardless, the RTX 5090 appears to consume 150 watts more than the RTX 4090’s 450 watts. According to reports, the RTX 5090 will also be equipped with 32GB GDDR7 memory on a 512-bit bus, with 21,760 CUDA cores.
Likewise, the RTX 5080 is said to use 400 watts of power, up from the RTX 4080’s 320 watts of total graphics power. According to reports, the RTX 5080 will also feature 16GB of GDDR7 memory and a 256-bit memory bus, as well as 10,752 CUDA cores.
Kopite7kimi has leaked various GPU information over the years and has a solid track record of Nvidia hardware leaks. Kopite7kimi previously revealed RTX 3090 and RTX 3080 card pre-launch specs, the release date of the RTX 4070 / RTX 4080 Super cards, and the return of the 12GB RTX 4080 as the RTX 4070 Ti. They also correctly predicted that the RTX 4090 would require 450 watts of power.
While specs for Nvidia’s top-tier RTX 50 series cards may have leaked, a date for when we’ll see these cards has yet to be revealed. According to a source familiar with Nvidia’s plans, we may hear more about the RTX 50 series at the Consumer Electronics Show in early 2025.
