Are you a fan of Final Fantasy 7? Have you played too much Final Fantasy 7 Remake but are still itching to experience the highs and lows of Square Enix’s beloved RPG again? I have some good news for you! An independent developer has remastered much of LittleBigPlanet 2’s remastered content.
This project is the sole responsibility of Jamie Colliver and has been a passion project for many years. Originally released a decade ago, this fan remake has been completely revamped with five units of the game, new models, new animations, and more. This should now be the finished version of the LittleBigPlanet remake, another 3.5 years in the making, and now it’s ready for you to try.

The entire process of building the project has been uploaded to Colliver’s YouTube channel so you can check it out for yourself. There’s even a snazzy 15-minute trailer that brings together many of the biggest moments in one place. Of particular note is the remastered FF7 OST, all done in the Little Big Planet level creator.
The creators were so pleased with the project that they launched a petition to somehow include it in the third official installment of the FF7 Remake trilogy. While it may be a bit ambitious, 81 people have taken the time to sign the agreement. I wonder how many signatures it would take for Square Enix to see it? I guess there’s only one way to know for sure.
To me, this is a testament not only to the creativity of the LittleBigPlanet engine, but also to the creativity of the community that is still working on the game. We may no longer be in the golden age of LittleBigPlanet, especially with developer Media Molecule suffering layoffs in recent months, but the desire to create in its games remains.
So, kudos to creators like Colliver for being willing to port over and make some cool stuff. If you have a copy of LittleBigPlanet 2, check out his FF7 remake!
