A celebration ceremony for comic book creators and publishers is scheduled to be held in New York on August 22
Japan Association and anime new york The nominees for the first American Comics Awards were announced on Tuesday. The award categories and their respective nominees are as follows:

translators and authors Matt Alter (Pure invention: How Japanese pop culture influenced the world) and Yoda Yuko (The monster is coming!) selected the nominees for Best Translation. comic letterer Tom Ozehowski (Unbelievable X-Men) and Nate Picos (The Essential Guide to Comic Lettering) selected the nominees for Best Lettering. The latter also contributed to the logo design of the American Comic Awards. Kinokuniya Bookstore East Coast regional manager Shiegkazu Watanabe and publication designer Sasha Head decide on the nominations for best publication design. Brigid Alverson (ICv2, School Library Journal), Shane Garrity (American Otaku, publishers weekly), Minovsky (@MinovskyArticle), New York Public Library Senior Librarian – Youth Services’ Renee Scott and ANN’s Lynzee Loveridge selected Best New Comics, Best Serialized Comics and Best New Editions of Classic Comics Nominated.
Editorial professionals working with North American comics publishers will vote to determine the winner. Frederick L. Shorttranslator and author comics! comics! The world of Japanese comicswill become the first recipient of the Comics Publishing Hall of Fame Award.
The new ceremony will be held on August 22, the night before this year’s ceremony, at the Japan Society’s Lila Acheson Wallace Auditorium in Midtown Manhattan anime new york The event begins. The American Comics Awards honor comics creators and publishers who have made significant contributions to the popularity of comics in North America and Japan.
Deb Aoki (publishers weekly, comic beats, comics Podcast) leads the American Comics Awards Planning Committee. Translators and authors Matt AlterHe, who also serves as a judge, is hosting the event.
The invitation-only ceremony will be held for comics industry professionals and media.
anime new york 2024 will take place from August 23rd to 25th. The event will take over the entire main floor of the Javits Center for the first time in 2024.
Revealed: ANN’s executive editor Lynzee Loveridge serves as a judge for the American Comic Awards.
