Nina West wants to thank friend Zelda Williams for a phone call that gave her her biggest acting opportunity yet.

Their mutual friend is Tina Romero, a filmmaker and daughter of the late zombie master George A. Romero. night of the living dead director.
Romero Jr. wrote a note to West, recalling how, before his death in 2017, she received his blessing for her own project, a film titled Queen of the Dead. This horror comedy centers on drag queens and club kids battling the undead during the outbreak of a drag show in Brooklyn. Would West want to be a part of this movie?

Her latest film was shot this summer and features a cast that includes Katie O’Brien, Margaret Cho, Brigette Lundy-Paine and Cheyenne Jackson.
“This is a strange group of actors with extraordinary magic,” West said. “This is camp. This is horror. I’ve never seen an immortal movie like this.
Summer filming is a busy time for West, as it coincides with the launch of “The New Movie.” RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars Season nine requires her to do promotional work during weekend filming. She used the show to raise funds for The Trevor Project and released a T-shirt raising funds for an LGBTQIA+ youth charity.
West is currently touring with a one-man show and plans to take on more film roles after the show ends.
