The next MCU movie, the chance you don’t know is very small Thunder and lightning Arrives in May this year. Needless to say, Marvel Publishing is not an opportunity to pass. Sure enough, the publisher announced New lightning Ongoing series. The significance of the asterisk in the title of Thunderbolts movie has not been revealed, as is the case for the new comics champion. Hopefully we find the answer in less than two months.
New Thunderbolts* arrives in June this year with a lineup of familiar and unexpected characters including Winter Soldiers, Black Widow, The Holocaust (Eddie Brock), Hulk, Namor, Clea and Wolverine (Laura Kinney).
This is how Marvel describes it New lightning*:
The new sustained series begins when Bucky Barnes and Black Widow discover a huge threat to the Marvel universe and recruit a group of individuals who will have nothing to do with it! It was an aggressive lineup that even by lightning standards was triggered in a revolutionary new era of the iconic team. Known for its high octane, chaotic energy, the exciting champion just happens to be launched Thunderbolts by Marvel Studios*May 2 in the theater.
They are the most dangerous loners and anti-heroes in the Marvel Universe. There is nothing that will get them to work together…but Bucky Barnes and Black Widow will give it a try. The Illuminati’s dementia-style repetitions are threatening the world, and if they figure out how to work together, they will be as unstoppable as the original work. Bucky and Natasha need allies and they will do anything to eliminate the duplicates – but quarrel with a team of killers and monsters will bring their own dangers. Welcome to the new Thunderbolts* – Hope you survive the experience!
The series will be Sam Humphreys With art Five tons. Humphries wrote many titles for publishers a decade ago and is no stranger to Marvel. He then went on to write for DC Comics on a variety of books, most notably his well-received works Green Lantern.
“I love every iteration of Thunderbolt,” Humphreys said. “I’m excited to continue the team’s proud tradition of struggling to hit the action, the personality of the powder keg, and the explosive surprises into a new era. It’s a seven biggest bad guys and loose cannons from every corner of the Marvel Universe. Building a super team is like inviting the right combination of guests to a dinner party. So, I imagine a dangerous, disastrous, unparalleled Marvel dinner and then go.”
Lima expressed excitement about the job title:
“I’m working on this book with Mr. Humphreys and the team,” Lima shared. “Looking at this lineup…it’s crazy. They’re not talking here; they jump straight to the action! It’s the funniest part. None of them are known for their easy work, so neither can I.”
The first issue will feature Stephen Segovia’s main cover and Mark Bagley’s variant cover. Looking for new Thunderbolts* will arrive at the comic shop on Wednesday, June 11, 2025.
