We’ve got another behind-the-scenes look to share with you, Universal Pictures’ feature film adaptation of the hit Broadway musical evil It focuses on the main characters in the story and how their friendship is at the heart of the story.
The video includes new footage from the film, behind-the-scenes footage and an interview with the director Jon Chu with the stars ariana grande and Cynthia Erivo.
The three-time Tony Award-winning musical is adapted from the author’s book Gregory Maguirethis is the prequel The Wizard of Oz. It tells the story of how the green-skinned Elphaba became the Wicked Witch of the West, and how the sorceress Glinda became known as the Good Witch.
Wicked tells the untold story of the witches of Oz, including Elphaba, a young woman who is misunderstood because of her unusual green skin and has yet to discover her true powers; Glinda, a popular young woman, gilded by privilege and ambition, possesses a true heart that has yet to be discovered.
The two met as students at Heath University in the fantastic Wizard of Oz and formed a seemingly unlikely but deep friendship. After meeting the Wizard of Oz, their friendship reaches a crossroads and their lives take completely different paths.
Glinda’s unwavering desire to be popular leads her to the temptations of power, while Elphaba’s determination to stay true to herself and those around her will have unexpected and shocking consequences for her future.
Their extraordinary adventures in Oz will ultimately lead to their destiny as the Good Glinda and the Wicked Witch of the West.
The film also stars Michelle Yeoh as Lady Morrible, the palatial principal of Heath; Jonathan Bailey (Bridgerton, Traveling Companion) plays Fiyero, a naughty and carefree prince; Ethan Slater (Broadway’s SpongeBob SquarePants, Fox/Verdon) as Boq, a selfless munchkin student; Marissa Bird In her feature film debut, she played Nessarose, Elphaba’s beloved sister; and Jeff Goldblum Just like the legendary Wizard of Oz.
The cast includes Pfannee and ShenShen, two conniving compatriots played by Glinda. Yang Bowen (saturday night live) and Bronwyn James (prostitute), as well as a new character created for the film, Miss Coddle, by Keira Settlement (greatest performer).
Zhu Zhengting directed the two-part film from a screenplay written by the screenwriter of the stage play Winnie Holzman and composer-lyricist Stephen Schwartz.
Evil: Part 1 will premiere exclusively in theaters on Friday, November 27, 2024.
