Mattel has launched a new line of dolls aimed at encouraging older girls to follow their dreams.
The Barbie Dream Besties line is the latest addition to Barbie products, bringing a fresh spin to the popular fashion doll. The new dolls are shorter than traditional Barbie dolls, and each represents a different 17-year-old character with career dreams.
The new collection includes four dolls, each with their own personal style and dream career. Barbie “Malibu” Roberts wants to be the CEO of her own cosmetics company. Her doll comes with a clutch, sunglasses, hair dryer, hand glasses, lipstick, blusher and phone. Barbie “Brooklyn” Roberts wants to be a famous choreographer. She carries a speaker, tablet, ring light, duffel bag, phone and her dog Pumpkin.
Teresa Rivera wants to start her own video game company. Her doll comes with a backpack, headphones, keyboard and teddy bear. Renee Chao is a passionate foodie who wanted to host her own food and travel show. She brought a laptop, a tote bag, a slice of pizza, a pretzel, a bag of chips, a smoothie and a cell phone.
Dream Besties aren’t just limited to dolls. Mattel is also working on music videos starring each doll, with videos for Malibu and Brooklyn released now. A new YouTube series is also coming soon. dream friends There will be 10 three-minute episodes that follow Malibu, Brooklyn, Teresa and Renee as they chase their dreams.
