Sorry, My Hero Academia fans, your favorite anime is coming to an end and the final season has been announced.

Just in August, the “My Hero Academia” manga ended its 10-year serialization, but just yesterday, the animation will also come to an end. Season 7 has been airing for a few months, and yesterday the 21st and final episode of the season aired, along with the announcement that the anime’s final season will air in 2025. A very short trailer that really didn’t show anything, just Deku’s voiceover saying “This is the story of how we became the greatest heroes.”

At least the staff for the final season has been confirmed, including some returning staff members such as general director Kenji Nagasaki, director Naomi Nakayama, script supervisor Yosuke Kuroda, character designers Yoshihiko Umagoshi and Hitomi Odajima, and composer Yuki Hayashi. Yes, in case you were wondering, Bones Studios will once again be handling the animation – and he’s hoping they can bring back some favorite old animators to make the final season even more special.

It’s a big weekend for My Hero Academia fans in the U.S., with the announcement of the season seven finale and season eight, as well as the series’ latest movie, My Hero Academia: You’re Next. Released in cinemas. This unorthodox film introduces a mysterious, evil version of All Might, but you’ll have to see the film to find out what’s going on there.

My Hero Academia started airing back in 2016 and has 159 episodes so far – there aren’t many stories in the manga to adapt, so don’t expect as long a season as in previous years.
