It was announced yesterday that Nachie Marsham has joined Skybound Entertainment as a senior editor, where he will oversee the development of a new range of original comics and licensing partnerships such as Lego Books.
Marsham is an industry veteran who has served as publisher at IDW Publishing (see introductory interview here ), executive editor at Disney Publishing Worldwide, staff member of the Marvel Press line, and editor of DC’s Bat-Team.
“Nachie Marsham adds an incredible depth of experience and passion to Skybound, and he’s already working hard to take our original and licensed comics programming in new directions,” publisher senior vice president Sean Mackiewicz said in a statement . “Our editorial team is among the best in the industry, and we remain committed to delivering the most exciting, emotionally charged comics on the market every week.”
“It’s great to be joining the Skybound editorial team and working on such a diverse body of work,” Masham said in his statement. “It’s great to be working with a company with such a great history, a killer backlist, an award-winning frontline juggernaut, and a strong desire to keep pushing comic book stories forward. “
Marsham joins other recent hires at Skybound, including Ben Abernethy (Executive Editor), Blake Kobashikawa (Senior Director of Business Development), and Alex Hargett (Director, Brand, Editorial).
The move comes as Skybound has enjoyed huge commercial success with its Hasbro-themed Energon Universe series and expanded into more licensed publishing territories with sequels to the Universal Monsters series and the Creepshow anthology. And of course there’s Invincible and The Walking Dead , the Skybound founder’s stalwart steeds Robert Kirkman. Other media productions in the pipeline include Heart Attack, an adaptation of Shawn Kittelson and Eric Zawadzki’s Skybound original works, and is jointly developing a “live-action animation” TV series with Japan’s Fuji TV. Gasolina from Maciewicz and artist Niko Walter will produce the audio drama for Audible; no doubt, as they say, there will be more to come.
