NetherRealm Studios has announced Khaos Reigns, a new expansion pack for Mortal Kombat 1, promising more story and six new characters.
If you’ve been waiting for news on the next batch of characters coming to Mortal Kombat 1, you’re in luck, because a whole bunch of them were revealed this week at San Diego Comic-Con. Mortal Kombat co-creator Ed Boom was in attendance to show off the game’s first expansion, as well as the game’s next Mortal Kombat pack, which showcases all six a role. Three of them are Mortal Kombat classics: Cyrax, Sektor, and Noob Saibot, but the other three will actually be guest characters: the Terminator T-1000 in Terminator 2, Scream Ghostface in , and Conan the Barbarian in Conan the Barbarian .

None of this will come as a surprise to you, as data mining a month ago already uncovered evidence of these six characters, but it’s still nice to have them confirmed. You’ll also probably be happy to hear that Ghostface’s iconic voice actor Roger L. Jackson will be reprising his role in the game, as if it were anyone else but him. Robert Patrick obviously lent his image to the T-1000, but he also returned to voice his own character. However, Conan the Barbarian will only feature Arnold Schwarzenegger’s likeness, with a voice actor yet to be confirmed.

The expansion will also continue the story through a new campaign, described as follows: “When a dangerous threat arrives from another timeline, led by the ruthless Titan Harvik, whose only mission is to plunge the nations into chaos, Liu Kang must gather his forces.
Animalism, a fan-favorite finishing move type, will also return, allowing characters to transform into spirit animals to defeat opponents. The feature will be free to all players, and the MK 95 Scorpion skin based on the original 1995 film is also available for free.
Khaos Reigns is coming soon, launching on all platforms on September 24th.
