If Bane and Deathstroke team up in the next Batman movie, the Dark Knight is going to be in some serious trouble. But apparently, DC Films plans to bring these villains to the big screen in its own movies, rather than teaming up to bring the Caped Crusader to his knees.
Via The Hollywood Reporter , “Captain America: Brave New World” screenwriter Matthew Orton has signed on to pen the script for the currently untitled film, which does not yet have a director. Orton is also a writer on Marvel’s Moon Knight series. Outside of comics, he created the South African crime series Devil’s Peak and wrote the scripts for the World War II film The Finale and the thriller The Cleaners.
The biggest thing missing from this report on the movie is the hook that ties Deathstroke and Bane together. Considering the former’s penchant for fighting Titans and the latter being one of Batman’s greatest enemies, they seem like a mismatched pair. There’s not even a comic book history between them to fall back on. Bane and Deathstroke are not in each other’s orbit at all, the only thing they have in common is that they are both one of the most famous villains in the DC Comics universe.
Tom Hardy’s turn as Bane in 2012’s The Dark Knight Rises was a big step up from Bane’s cameo in Batman and Robin. As for Deathstroke, he was relegated to a cameo role in both versions of Zack Snyder’s Justice League, with Joe Manganiello playing the role. But if Ben Affleck’s Batman script had been used, Manganiello’s Deathstroke would have been the villain.
DC Studios has yet to set a release date for Bane and Deathstroke.
