Julian Lytle: Okay, so why is Mondo attending New York Comic Con this year? What did you present at the conference?
Peter Santamaria: Yeah, obviously, we want to go to New York and meet the people here. It’s been a while since we played a show in New York. We have some great exclusive products coming out. Our phantom variant ninja turtles Soft vinyl dolls are very popular. People love them. They are soft vinyl figures painted in black and white paint. The red bandanna is a nod to the original comics. We also get some great exclusive content from the Nightmare Vessel. They were the first to go public here. The first time people could get them was at a show. And some other great soft vinyl exclusives American Werewolf in LondonBlood Moon variant. Great, great piece.
Lytle: Where is Mondo heading from 2024 to 2025?
Hector Als: Yeah, I mean, we’re showing off a couple of pieces that are coming out later this year, and that’s turn off buzz from master of the universeit’s an important line for us to take, and we get to redesign the character in our own way, which is really cool. we have a King Ghidorah Jesse Hernandez’s side – aztec city. we have scarecrow It came out on Halloween Batman: The Animated Series and fraud (from master of the universe), which just came out this weekend, but unfortunately it’s already sold out. We just had a panel on next year and we just announced a bunch of amazing stuff.
Saint Mary: 1:6 scale ninja turtles, gargoyle, a stupid movie, alien, Yu-Gi-Oh!, Naruto. Lots of good stuff.
Lytle: I guess you guys had great success tapping into the nostalgia of the ’80s and ’90s.
Saint Mary: certainly.
Arce: This is how we grow. In a way, we almost make toys for ourselves first. You know, in making characters that we think we’re going to fall in love with while making them. And then we hope fans feel the same way when they come out. Correct. Because if we do something, it’s because we’re fans of it. We’re not just randomly getting licenses or doing whatever we want if we’re doing a stupid movie because we love a stupid movie.
Saint Mary: Developing characters and collectibles takes a lot of work, so you have to really enjoy it or you’ll be miserable.
Lytle: Okay. Do you guys feel like you stand out from some of the other competitors or even some of the competitors in Asia? Because I think some of your figures are priced like X-Men The ones I’ve seen are comparable to those from Hot Toys.
Arce: Yes, absolutely.
Saint Mary: Yeah, so for our one and six scale series, these are premium collectibles. We’re going into the game in an animated style that no one has really done in 1:6 scale, and we’re also launching a more realistic Mondo Showcase series. Like our MacReady thingNada comes from they live, M3GAN Now Creature from the Black Lagoon. New ones are coming out so, yeah, we’re doing a little bit in the animated space and a little bit in the real-life space. And it’s a premium collectible, so it definitely comes with a premium ticket.
LYTLE: You guys came into the market making a lot of movie collectibles and posters. Will there be a push for a return to some really high-end quality printed posters?
Saint Mary: certainly. We never stop. In fact, at the show, we got a brand new screen print from Dave Arcade warriors. We have a great poster The Goonies. You know, we’re always working with great artists with different perspectives to make some of our favorite movies and shows and stuff like that. so. Yes, that has never changed. We continue to do so. We also happen to have developed this huge collections division, and together with our music division, we have a very robust set of products at MONDO.
Lytle: Okay, okay. I guess that’s all I have for you today.
saint mary Appreciate it.
