director Mike Flanagan (“Doctor Sleep”, “The Haunting of Hill House”) is currently developing a new The Exorcist Blumhouse’s movie, he had big ambitions for it. In fact, he saw the opportunity as a goal to make his scariest movie ever.
When the project was first announced, it was said to be a “fresh take on the series,” and now he’s teasing his vision for the series’ future.
“We’re not going to make it easy for ourselves,” Flanagan told The Hollywood Reporter. “But I’ve always felt that unless you can bring something new to the table, going into a franchise or a single property is No point. I was chasing The Exorcist very aggressively because I was sure I could add something.
He continued: “It was an opportunity to do something that I think has never been done in the series, something that respects what came before but isn’t built on nostalgia.
“I really just saw the opportunity to make the scariest movie I’ve ever made. I knew the expectations were high. No one was more scared than me.
Well, what the hell! I hope he really succeeds! What I hope most is that he becomes a terrible bastard Exorcist Horror movie! I would say if anyone can do it, it’s Flanagan. This guy is a talented filmmaker and storyteller, especially of horror movies.
Flanagan previously said in a statement: “The Exorcist It’s one of the reasons I became a filmmaker, and I feel honored to have the opportunity to try something new, bold, and scary within its universe. Reuniting with my friends from Blumhouse, with whom I’ve created some of my favorite work, only makes it all the more exciting.

David Gordon Green Originally planned to make a trilogy The Exorcistbut after the complete failure of the first film, it was clear that the series needed a new direction. I can’t wait to see what Flanagan has planned for this!
