You know, just saying, but if you have to walk through a dark catacombs and kill multiple wizards, rats, and a ninja, and every ninja attack drives you crazy, then sneak past the ones that can’t be killed Ghosts, they’ll go all out quiet place If you make a sound, you’ll raid a mansion full of fearless greatsword warriors, while hearing a man scream at the top of his lungs thanks to the evil bone sword he possesses instead of a spine, and the terrifying Evil is begging to crawl out of his skin, and you know, people might think you might not be wanted here. But hey, the sunk cost fallacy is a bastard, you’re not going to walk all the way through the abyssal forest, and no Talk to the last man – Midra – to find out what his deal is.

This action game asks what would happen if Ninja Gaiden let down its hair

Spoiler alert: His deal is murder. Kill people, set fires.

    Midra’s abilities

When you first enter Midra’s room, you’ll see this poor old man slumped in the middle of the room, and before you can even say “Need anything, old guy?” he’ll start calling you an idiot, Then rushes towards you with a stick in hand. If he catches you, he’ll catch you Some Hurts, but, I mean, look at him.

Once you defeat him, though, a cutscene will play and Midra will give up the ghost and truly unleash Hell. After experiencing one of the worst things you’ve ever seen, you’ll see the true target: the Mad Fire Lord. You know, this is what you might become if you choose to be Very Naughty lost its luster in the base game?

Regardless, once you regain control, the first thing Johnny Storm will do is fire a bunch of flaming tendrils at you in two waves. After that, he’ll start attacking you with his giant sword-cum-spine combo. All of them involve big sweeps, but specifically two quick slides followed by a hard slide thrust, kind of like the Stinger in “The Stinger” Devil May Cry. He also has a variant where he throws a flaming tentacle attack in the middle of a normal combo. He will occasionally try a spin, as it’s a good trick that will connect three hits if it works. He also holds a bone dagger in his off-hand, and he might surprise you from time to time.

When you take away a third of his health, he will float into the air and fall like a bomb. After this, his sword combos will start leaving pools of fire on the ground, which is especially bad since he’ll start doing long six-hit sweeping combos from time to time. He’ll gain a new dive attack, where he’ll explode into flaming spikes after a delay whether or not he catches you with his sword. He will also occasionally spawn a fiery sphere that will follow you around the room for a few seconds. On top of that, sometimes he pulls out a Cyclops and shoots a beam of fire from his eye. Oh, and did I mention the part where all of his fire attacks cause madness? Because they do.

    Defeat Midra

So it turns out that despite Midla’s horrific architecture and dramatic fires, he was still a frail old man. While magic users can avoid his sliding attacks by staying out of combo range, and hitting him with anything that causes frostbite or bleeding, once you know when his combo ends, heavy melee users can just use Defender Counter bullied the poor bastard, breaking his posture multiple times during the fight. If your weapons also inflict frostbite or bleed, this will be a real short fight.

This is permission to be offensive, not permission to be stupid. The biggest problem is that while armor and a half-decent shield can block most of what he throws at you, the insane build-up to each attack adds up quickly. If you can mitigate that, half the battle is already won. Charisma wise, if you got the Clarification Clarion Charisma +2 from the Mourner’s Prison, bring it with you. For armor, the Solitude set obtained from defeating the Black Prison Knight is the top choice. However, if you don’t want to go looking for these things, the Amulet of Disease (which makes you resistant to recent illnesses) can help, but that also requires you to actually be fully afflicted with the madness for once. This is a desperate choice.

The first part of this fight is fairly straightforward once the madness stops being so concerning. The initial fire attack can be dodged by rolling forward, with a slight delay to avoid the second one. This will put you directly into the grill of the Eye of Sauron. Even with some (hopefully) decent crazy protection, you’ll still want to roll Midra’s attacks as much as possible to avoid build-up, while magic users will want to roll out of range and clear some space as quickly as possible. If you choose to carry ashes for speed, dodge the fire attack and roll out of range first.

    second stage

When the second phase begins, Midla’s large dive bomb attack works Much like Mesmer’sbut there’s a twist: the epicenter of the Midra explosion is actually impossible to dodge. If you’re within the red light of the explosion, you’re screwed. So the movement there is actually running out of its range, not rolling.

After that, the fight gets tricky, but most of the same principles apply. It’s mostly a race against time, because even if you do everything right, the flames of madness that Midra now leaves behind are hard to avoid. If you increase the Insanity Resistance you should be fine, however, the sooner you get him down the better. He’ll give you a little extra help, though: his six-hit combo doesn’t turn very well, and it’s very long, so if you can roll behind him early and can withstand the madness, you can engage in some serious elder abuse . Dive attacks are more of a matter of timing. Just remember the delay after he lands before exploding. The orb he summons is more annoying than anything, and is slow enough to be completely avoided as long as you stay out of range. His face laser does a decent amount of damage, but he only fires it if you’re too far away, and if you dodge it, he’s locked on for a few seconds.

Once you appease the old man, you’ll receive 410,000 runes for hospice care, as well as a memorial to the Fire Lord. Turning it in at the Round Table Fortress will give you Midra’s terrible Cursed Greatsword, or a spell, Midra’s Mad Fire, that summons his tendrils of fire. By the way, did you pick up Qiye’s torch in Mance earlier? It was only after the battle that it became clear that the torch belonged to Midra actual spine.

…To answer your next question, yes, you can definitely get out of there now.
