Oh, Hollywood… you have a really hard time getting people to like you sometimes. Michael Bay Joining forces with former Paramount Pictures president Adam Goodman to develop films and TV series for the controversial animated internet hit Skippy Toilet.
Speaking to Variety’s “Strictly Business” podcast, Goodman said: “We are definitely in talks now, both on the TV side and the earliest conversations on the film side right now. But that’s not all we have.
For those unfamiliar with the Skibidi Toilet, in 2023 Alexey Gerasimov uploaded an 11-second video on his YouTube channel DaFuq!?Boom! . Known as the “skibidi toilet,” it features a head sticking out of the toilet and singing.
This sparked a strange cultural phenomenon, with Skibidi gradually “evolving into more than 70 one- to five-minute mini-epics depicting an infinitely escalating war between toilets and robots.”
The films were “explosive, violent, and devoid of any apparent dialogue. These qualities have earned it a worldwide audience, not to mention the fact that Generation Alpha can truly claim to be a cultural icon.”
Goodman believes Gerasimov’s creation has huge potential, saying: “He’s building something that could be the next ‘Transformers,’ or it could be the Marvel Universe.”
Bay is apparently working closely with Gerasimov on the content. “I will say that Michael and Jeffrey Beecroft were his long-time production designers and colleagues who worked with him on all of his films,” Goodman said. But they’ve been working closely with Alexei to really professionalize the backend engine of this movie.
It’s absolutely crazy to me that they think the Skibidi toilet could be as big as the Transformers and Marvel series! Are Skibidi toilets really that popular?
Not only that, but Goodman said they’re considering an animated/live-action hybrid version of Skibidi, which he likened stylistically to John Wick and district 9 Movie.
He added: “If we find a partner who really believes there’s an opportunity to grow in this area and really see storytelling evolve and be able to get to where we want it to be, then film and TV seems like a natural fit for us. extend”.
They also want to keep fans entertained in creative ways. “This is one of those things that’s very different from anything we’ve ever done together before,” Goodman explained.
“Normally we would issue takedowns; we’re prepared to make sure no one disrupts the things we want to control. In this case, we took a very different approach.
“We want creators to be able to use our IP. We want to make sure people are clearly doing things within reason, as long as it follows our specific guidelines.
Can Bay and Goodman seize this cultural moment and turn it into a massive, successful film and TV series? This makes no sense to me, so I’m clearly out of touch with the ski toilet crowd.
