This week, HBO and Max premiere Penguin , the first Batman spinoff. While the show is part of what director Matt Reeves calls his plan for The Batman’s epic crime saga, Penguin was never the only series to follow the first film. But while standalone series about the Gotham City Police Department and Arkham Asylum have been shelved, Reeves has now said that if Penguin is successful, there will be more spin-offs.

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Reeves declined to reveal what other spin-offs he would like to make besides “Penguins.” But he did say that the next show or shows will be built around some of the ideas from previous GCPD and Arkham Asylum pitches.

“What we are talking about 1726864114 It’s an evolved version of those [spin-offs],” Reeves said. “It’s not that that doesn’t work. Like, we need to grow this. I wouldn’t describe it as something that hasn’t worked out but more as something that’s still on the road to getting there.

Although Rob Pattinson’s Batman won’t appear in “Penguin,” Reeves admitted that he briefly considered casting him. He also hinted that Pattinson’s Dark Knight might appear in another series.

“That’s not to say that characters like Batman or Bruce will never appear. [on a future series],” Reeves said.”[The Penguin showrunner] Lauren [LeFranc] I did speak. ‘Do we want to find a way to have Rob on this show in some way?’ But that was an afterthought.

Currently, the big news for Reeves is that he has completed the script for “Batman Part II” and plans to start filming the sequel next year. He also added that the sequel will jump “some time” after the events of “Penguin.” “Oz has really become one of the entry points for the movie. I couldn’t tell you where it goes from there, except that we’re very excited about it.”

“Batman Part II” will be released on October 2, 2026.
