Things are always happening in DC movies, especially things related to Batman. although Penguin Next week is finally confirmed, the wait is longer than expected batman part 2 (Due to COVID and the strike) it made some people upset that Matt Reeves couldn’t do everything he clearly set out to do.
But according to Reeves himself, people have nothing to worry about. In a recent interview with Collider, he assured that his Batman saga will be played out in its entirety and “very close to the path we envisioned.” By far the largest deviation appears as Penguin: He always knew he wanted to continue the story of the future crime boss and “the beginning of his rise to power.” But don’t let Oswald’s story be the “main course” Part Two, It developed into its own thing, in part out of a desire not to relegate Reeves’ project simply to theater.
Reeves recalled how HBO chief content officer Casey Bloys initially told him that they wanted “something like these iconic characters in the series that weren’t clustered, that weren’t reserved just for the theatrical experience. Everything. He chose The Penguin because in the first film he “appeared as a sort of middle-class, somewhat overlooked, derided character who was not yet, in anyone’s eyes, the main character we know in the lore. That was intentional because I wanted – even though it wasn’t an origin story for Batman, I wanted origin stories for other characters.
What does Reeves mean by “other characters”? He remained tight-lipped, although a recent roundtable reported by The Direct provided a small hint. In the meantime, producer Dylan Clark said another spin-off is in the works, one that appears to be different from the Arkham Asylum series that was shelved last July. Reportedly, a reporter asked if a legal drama starring Harvey Dent would be considered, and Reeves said the question “definitely came up in the context of our conversation.”
