Marvel Studios blade Reboot has had a rocky road since its initial release four years ago. The film ran into several problems and seemed far from being ready for production.
The film went through many directors and screenwriters, the last director being Jan Demangeleft the project a few months ago.
Marvel is reportedly eyeing a new director, with Reelworld’s Jordan Lumi saying the studio has met with several potential directors recently, and james samuel “Impressed Marvel executives.”
We don’t know if the filmmaker is actually in talks, but sources believe there’s a good chance the guy will end up getting the job.
Samuel has directed Netflix westerns The harder they falland more recently the revisionist religious epic book of clarence. So, your opinion of these films will determine whether you think he is a good director or not. I thought the movie was pretty good.
It was also mentioned that the latest draft of the script was written by Eric Pearsonhe is the successor Michael Green, Stacey Osei-Kufour, Michael Starbury, Beau DeMeo and Nick Pizzolatto -“Finally all participants are satisfied.”
That being said, there’s a good chance the film will be completed by its current filming date of November 1st.
Mahershala Ali Still attached to this movie, it will be rated R. Marvel President Kevin Feige Speaking recently about the ratings he said:
“We’ve been trying to crack this movie for the past few years, and the most important thing for us was not to rush it. And make sure we were making the right Blade movie.
“There are some great blade Movies from years ago…they were all rated R. So I think it’s something that’s inherent – like Deadpool – inherent to the character of Blade.
As for why the film took so long to develop, Feige likened the delays to Deadpool and Wolverinesaying they were just waiting for “something magical to happen.”
“It’s part of the process,” he said. “When you have a character as famous as Blade and an actor as famous as Mahershala, everything that happens gets a lot of attention.
“I’m sure you’ve heard us talk about how we were trying to find the perfect reason for a third Deadpool movie in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and then Hugh Jackman called and everything fell into place.
“Sometimes you need that magic thing to fall into place. Sometimes it happens – sometimes it takes a day. Sometimes it takes two years. Sometimes it takes 10 years. But that’s really what you should be waiting for until you make something thing.
Ali’s last update on the project was: “We’re working on it. That’s the best I can tell you. I’m very encouraged by the direction this project is taking. I think we’ll be back soon.”
He added: “I’m really encouraged by how things are going, who’s involved, who’s taking the lead in terms of writing the script and directing and so on.”
“That’s as far as I can tell you.”
Marvel and Disney spent millions blade throughout development and pre-production, so hopefully they’ll have this figured out and have the product up and running soon.
