Before release Al Ewing and Carlos Gómez‘ Brand new venom #5 This Wednesday, Marvel Comics chose to reveal the identity of Symbiote’s new host and then reveal that the issue itself could be played in the comic shop. Destroyer After the jump, all our readers were ahead of schedule Now.
Although the identity of the new owner was teased before the first question as Luke Cage, Rick Jones, Robbie Robertson or Madame Masque, and was subsequently suggested by the series as Paul Rabin, current partner of Mary Jane Watson, it turns out they are nothing more than Dylan Brock’s Ford mother:

Yes, Spider-Man’s long-term love interest, and one of the first people in the comics to be intimidated by Venom, has been the host of Symbiote who is tied with Peter Parker, Eddie Brock and Dylan. Poison War. Ewing comments, “We hooked readers in with the big mystery – albeit with a little misdirection thrown in – but now the cat’s out of the bag, we can really get into the unlikely interaction of MJ and Venom. Unlike previous hosts, these two aren’t together by choice, but their odd-couple energy makes for a bubble pot of old-school soap opera thrills. If you’ve enjoyed this lighter take on Venom, there’s a lot more on the way – and some darker directions.”
MJ is no stranger to superpowers, he played the cloak of the grand prize at the 2023 grand prize Amazing Spider-Man #31, nor has he become a symbiotic host, he has become a long-term enemy of the poison in the spider-web universe, but I don’t think any of us see her becoming so close to her taste for the brain.
