Marvel Studios’ upcoming animated series, Your friendly neighborhood Spider-Manthe story takes place before 2016’s Captain America: Civil War, but with one obvious key difference.

Marvel Comics has now announced that the series will be getting a prequel tie-in comic. This will be a five-issue limited series written by: Christopher Gage And by Eric Gapst.
The story will introduce readers to a young Peter Parker and his supporting cast, as well as some of Spider-Man’s legendary villains. The comic series is said to “introduce some amazing adventures set in Peter’s early days as Spider-Man in this highly anticipated animated series.”
In Marvel Animation’s Friendly Neighbor Spider-Man, “Peter Parker is becoming a hero, and his journey is unlike anything we’ve seen before, in a style that reflects the character’s earliest comic book roots.
“In this new comic series, you can take his first steps with him as he discovers his powers, decides to become a hero, and even picks his name and costume! Now, Peter must fight as a crime-fighter A rookie vigilante spends his entire freshman year…and if you think you know how this story goes, you’re in for a surprise!
“I’ve had the privilege of writing many of Spider-Man’s adventures in comics and Insomniac video games, but one thing I never had the opportunity to do was retell his earliest exploits,” Gage said in a statement.
“The exciting part about this book is it’s a fresh take on those formative years. While this is definitely the Peter Parker, the Spider-Man we know and love, he’s joined by a new cast of supporting characters – including ones you might be familiar with Meet Nicomin in “The Escape”—and some surprising twists and turns!”
