Award-winning screenwriting and creative team Mark Wade and artist Chris Samney Back to take on another famous pair. DC has announced Batman & Robin: Year Onea new twelve-issue series from colorists Waid, Samnee Matthews Lopezand engraver Clayton Cowles This will tell the exact story of the dynamic duo’s early days together.

As Bruce Wayne adjusts to the reality of adopting orphan Dick Grayson, a mysterious new crime boss named The General arrives in Gotham to take over the city by disrupting and destroying other mobsters. But what does he have to do with Two-Face? Batman and his new sidekick Robin are searching for answers, but they’ll need to do whatever it takes to navigate the dynamic duo’s relationship as father and son, with Dick Grayson’s present and future hanging in the balance!
Batman & Robin: Year One This is the latest collaboration between Waid and Samnee, who have previously collaborated on critically acclaimed running projects Daredevil, black widowand captain america For Marvel. Samnee’s most recent interior design work is on Skybound firepower with writers Robert Kirkmanmost of Samnee’s recent cover works are DC works created by Waid, such as Shazam! and The best in the world: Young Titans.
Samnee’s fans have been calling on the artist to create Batman artwork ever since the artist began dedicating his annual “Inktober” to black-and-white illustrations of the Caped Crusader and his family, a month-long effort that Samnee dubbed “Batober.” ‘. It seems that good things come to those who wait.
In a statement announcing the series, Wade and Sumney described the series’ themes and the dynamic duo’s relationship at the start of the book:
“While Batman and Robin are the stars of this story and take up most of the time, at its heart this is not a Batman/Robin story but a Bruce/Dick story,” Mark said. Wade said. “This happened a month or two after Bruce adopted Dick, and Bruce had realized that he had have no idea How to be a father to kids at that age. He had no role models—his own father was long dead by the time he reached Dick’s age. Nothing he’d done had prepared him for this, and Alfred – smart as he was – didn’t have much experience here.
“Dick was nothing like Bruce – impetuous, flamboyant, reckless,” Chris Sumney said. “But he’s also precise; he can stick the landing. He’ll take orders when they make sense to him, but he’s keen to improvise, testing his role in the dynamic duo. The first page you’ll see will show their actions and reactions during their adventurous patrols together in Gotham City and we’re excited for this story to finally be told.
