Sonny and Margot Robbie’s first dateBarbie theatrical release, A bold and beautiful journey.
The film, which co-stars Robbie and Colin Farrow, will be released on Mother’s Day weekend, May 9, 2025.
gonad(Yang Hou, pinball machine) directed the film from a script by Seth Reiss. Plot details were sparse when the project was announced, but the film is said to center on two strangers and the unlikely ways their paths take them. Lily Rabe, Jodie Turner-Smith, Phoebe Waller-Bridge and Hamish Linklater also star.
The film is produced by Imperative Entertainment and 30West, which provided financial support for the film. Producers on the project include Imperative Entertainment’s Dan Friedkin, Bradley Thomas and Ryan Friedkin, as well as Reiss and Youree Henley. Kogonada, Ilene Feldman and Ori Eisen of Original Films serve as executive producers.
The film opens a week after Marvel Studios this thunderbolt*, bowed on May 2.
